We’re pleased to welcome a new artist to our RollieX gallery for the month of October, Shev Tan. Shev is an artist and graphic designer born in Singapore, based in Melbourne and Sydney. Shev’s art is heavily influenced by her own journey of identity and belonging, using a restrained colour palette, bold shapes and caricatures as a way to find connection with her audience.

We sat down with Shev at RollieX to talk about growing up between two cultures, her painting technique and why art doesn’t always have to ‘make sense’.

It can make you feel alive, it can make you feel inspired, it can make you feel excited, it can make you feel comfortable. And that is a language that I’m always going to prioritise trying to understand.”
