Earlier this year, I fostered (with lots of help, thanks Rachel 🥹) a senior Labrador, Rosie (Pannetone) through Starting Over Dog Rescue

We walked, played, took car rides, hung out at the studio. I adored her. She ended up being adopted by a fabulous human who fell in love with her at the first meet, honestly she was very easy to love! Rosie is now living her best life with her new person, warming herself by the fire and adventuring around the farm, no doubt having the time of her life.

Rosie needed quite a lot of medical attention during her foster period and spent a lot of time (chaperoned by Rachel 🙏) at the vet, getting lumps and bumps checked and removed as well as investigations into other health issues.

The vet bills added up and guess who covers the costs for all of the dogs being fostered? The rescue group! In fact, the energy, time, love, money, attention and passion Starting Over provide the hundreds (thousands?) of dogs that they save each and every year is absolutely mind blowing. It makes you believe that good people do actually exist and good people come together to do good things! Even in the face of all of the awful things that some of these pups have faced.

So, these guys deserve all the help. A $5 raffle ticket will not only get you in the running to win a $400 gift voucher from us, but all proceeds will be sent to Starting Over to help them continue their incredible work. I feel so lucky to have been a part of helping Rosie find her way to where she belongs and I can’t wait to foster again.

🦴Dogs bring out the child in us. The playfulness, the silly voices, the games. Being provided with endless laughter from a real life cartoon character who just independently ambles around your house is a steady source of serotonin and a gift like no other. Being goofy with your dog is good for everyone.

🦴People will move mountains to make sure their dog is happy and healthy. Love truly knows no bounds when it comes to in sickness and in health. Sleeping on the floor with them when they’re ill, checking if venues are pet friendly before booking, revolving days and activities around what is best for good boys and girls. Gone are the days of dogs being outside and seperate, they’re a part of the family unit more than ever.

🦴Dogs always most certainty have their “name” and then a long list of nicknames. Names for certain situations, maybe when they’re being naughty, sometimes even voices are bestowed upon our dogs…”if they could talk, this is what they would sound like…”

🦴This is a sad one but losing a dog can be harder than losing a human loved one. We enter this relationship knowing that we will most certainly say goodbye to our dogs long before we ourselves are faced with our own end. But we do it anyway. We know too that it’s worth the grief. Sharing a life, loving hard and remembering them forever is beautiful. We really put our hearts on the line for this extraordinary experience.

Of course, I’m no expert. These are just some of what I’ve come to learn after doing this for years.

Being let in on the world you share is a true bonus on top of the great pleasure that is celebrating your lifetime together; whether already shared or what is to come.

Regal Ulfr’s nose print for Vladimir + Petra.

A matte finish sterling silver rectangle signet for Vlad with extra textures on the ring band. Finished with oxidisation to provide contrast and depth.
Old English engraving inside the ring completes Vlad’s momento in celebration of his boy Ulfr. This is one cool ring.

A custom 9t gold signet for Petra complete with a diamond set in the shoulder. Engraved inside is Ulfr in cursive (not shown as I was too distracted by how good it looks from the outside!). I can’t ever get over how luscious gold signets are. Add a diamond and you have a completely classic knock out of a ring.

Getting to create rings for couples to signify how deeply their love runs for their dog truly makes my heart happy. I’ll always remember these two signets in particular as they, much like their Ulfr hold so much character and individuality.

Endless thanks to this amazing trio for trusting us to do what we do!
