Hey to all my awesome clients, colleagues, followers and friends!
I just wanted to reach out and communicate with you all what has been going on with Timeless Gold Jewellery as of late, and predominately what has been going on with me. Let's just say I'd thought I'd out clear some misunderstandings and rumours once and for all.
As most of you know, I've been at this "fine jewellery" making caper since 1990.
I was dedicated to leave the prestigious (lol) "Oakleigh High school" at the end of graduating year 10, to follow my dream of becoming a jeweller and taking over the world.
Now, as you most of you know, it has forever been difficult to get a hold of me at the best of times due to me being so busy working away in my humble little workshop, being commissioned to make engagement rings and wedding bands.
God had blessed me with work and passion and things were, let’s say flying. Although, in March of 2019 I was unfortunately hit with some news that woukd shake me up to say the least. After a lump was growing in my left arm (my non prominent one) I was informed by my doctor that I had quite a large super rare, cancerous sarcoma growing in my left arm. My reaction, understandably at the time, was one of despair, disbelief and one I hadn't really felt before, desperation. His solution was amputation. Having two gorgeous girls 14 and 3 years old, and the most handsome 9 year old boy, at the time, obviously made my life a little trickier. However, being a proud Greek, I was not about to accept the words: "you need to loose your arm". My whole life was based on these arms and hands. Giving joy to people through handcrafting something so private, personal and rare is, and was not something I took for granted and something I deeply appreciated.
So... without boring you all with my intimate situation, and unfortunate mental head space. 5 years on, 6 surgeries later, and many hospital stays ( 18 months from a possible of 60) in August 2023, I was told that if I wasn't prepared to give up my arm, I wouldn't be around to be reading my babies Christmas cards. So reluctantly yes, I was forced to give in, and have had my arm amputated.
Now, for the most important part of this post, I have not opened up for sympathy.
I have opened up to explain to those clients who have either been too afraid to ask the question or genuinely didn't really know. More so, I have opened up because my business has forever been constituted upon transparency and connecting with my clients has been my number one priority.
I wanted to address the "elephant" in the room and I hope that answers some of your questions.
Now, will I be continuing to make jewellery? You bet I will. It's the best job in the world. And for those who want to see more, I'd be more than happy to show you in person. To the traders that thought, they scored larger market share, ah think again. But in all seriousness, to my trade partners and most importantly my clients, I can't thank you enough for your beautiful words of well wishes and genuine support. Especially over the last week, my 50th birthday. All I ask is a little patience with me whist I transition through this difficult time. I honestly have nothing but gratitude and respect for your trust and belief in me now, and over the last 30 years.
With respect and love,
