A day in the workshop of sandcasting, moulds and wax making.
From the green wax moulds I created by melting wax and pouring it into the moulds I made from an original piece, I next take to Lismore lapidary workshop, with a bundle of silver off-cuts, and in a day turn them into silver pieces by melting and pouring molten silver into a vacuum machine that holds the wax shapes.

Its all about 'bringing it home', from conception to the final jewellery piece.
Its alot of work and trial and error, though I love the journey...sometimes frustrating and the brick walls in the way can be high, but aI wish to master it all and have to control over everything I create..

My own version of this ancient Manta ray, handmade in sterling silver.

Ive had the privilege of swimming with giant manta rays in their hundreds off Komodo dragon island.
I dived down amongst them, likely being annoying, but they just gently shifted course and moved over under and around me. Such benign magnificent creatures nade from the same mould as whales.
