Jadeite is a highly lustrous type of jade with fair hardness (resistance to scratches) and excellent toughness (resistance to impact). Wilhelm Kåge (1889–1960) was a trailblazer in Swedish ceramic design, whose innovative work at the Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory left an indelible mark on the field. As the artistic director, Kåge spearheaded the development of functionalist design principles, leading to the creation of iconic series such as ”Argenta” and ”Farsta.” The ”Argenta” series, in photo, with its distinctive green glaze and silver overlay, and the ”Farsta” pottery, celebrated for its tactile, earthy qualities, exemplify Kåge’s mastery in combining aesthetic appeal with functional design.

These collections not only reflect Kåge’s profound influence on Scandinavian ceramics but also his commitment to pushing the boundaries of material and form.
