Taryn and Bri met on the sticky dance floor of a dive bar in Reno, Nevada where they had both relocated to attend college for the next four years. “She had such a strong spirit and presence, I knew immediately that it was the start of a friendship that was one of a kind”. Aside from being strikingly beautiful, her uninhibited style was like no other. Her signature piece was a bear tooth necklace,
which she crafted when her dad was forced to shoot a bear off their porch in Seward, Alaska. A curator of leathers, feathers, teeth and bones to unconventionally adorn her body, there was always an interestingly positive story behind each item. She was born and raised in the wilderness and her style showcased its raw beauty. While home for summer vacation in June of 2009, Brianne Toth was tragically killed while riding her bike. The pain and shock of losing someone so dear was difficult for Taryn, but as time passed she was motivated to live each day to the fullest and passionately pursue her love of design… BRIWOK was born. Named after an endearing nickname that Taryn had given Bri in their college days, Taryn uses the memories that they shared as inspiration. BRIWOK’s design aesthetic incorporates raw, natural elements in unique and imaginative designs. Each handcrafted collection tells a story that is inspired by the distinctive style and irreplaceable personality of her lost soul sister.
