💎 THE DIAMOND DETAIL MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT!
Did you know that two diamonds with the same carat weight, colour and clarity can look completely different — and may even have very different price tags?
One of the reasons is something called the bow-tie effect.
When choosing an oval, pear or marquise diamond, you may notice a dark, bow-tie-shaped shadow stretching across the centre of the stone.
But here's what many diamond buyers don't realise: a beautiful diamond certificate doesn't always mean a beautiful diamond!
A pronounced bow tie can create dark areas across the centre of a diamond, affecting its overall brilliance, sparkle and visual appeal. It can also influence the diamond's value.
So, does a higher diamond grade always mean a more beautiful diamond?
Absolutely not!
A diamond with exceptional colour and clarity can still display a prominent bow tie. More importantly, the bow-tie effect is not specifically graded on a standard diamond certificate.
This is why diamond selection involves much more than comparing the 4Cs or choosing the highest grades on paper.
With 26 years of experience in the jewellery industry, Daniel understands that what you see in a diamond is just as important as what you read on its certificate.
At D&D Designer Jewellers, we believe in educating our clients so they can make informed decisions. We take the time to explain the finer details of diamond selection, including characteristics that may not be reflected in a grading report.
Our philosophy is simple: we want our clients to understand the difference between a diamond that looks impressive on paper and one that truly impresses in person.
✨ Because you're not just purchasing a certificate. You're investing in a diamond you'll admire for years to come.
