Hi, it’s been a long time!
I realised I was overdue to a reintroduction, my name is Paola, I’m the maker behind Maria Julietta. All business affairs and creations are done by me.
I’m Brazilian, and I currently live in the beautiful northern rivers with my family (husband, kids, dog and bunny), and I literally run this business in the pockets of time I get around everything else.

Maria Julietta is an ode to all Marias in my family. The women that came before me, every pieces is my thank you to them, and now made for you 💛

I’ll be showing my face here more often, be nice, I’m still trying to get it all together.

Rachel's ring belongs to Hera — our small family
of keepsake pieces made to hold ashes, hair, breast milk,
or a fragment of something meaningful.

In the Byzantine reliquary tradition, kept close to the body.

On antiquity, made in Australia.

For their wedding anniversary, Denise asked me
to remake her aquamarine ring into something she could
wear closer to her heart.

We kept the same stone he'd given her years ago, and
set it in recycled 9k gold with small white sapphires
dangling beneath it like water.

Now it hangs on her pearl necklace, worn most days.
The same stone. A different life for it.
..This is what I mean when I say antiquity, made in Australia.
Not only the old traditions of goldsmithing, but the
older practice of remaking, of continuing, of not letting
a beautiful stone sit in a drawer.

Some new pieces on the bench.

A small collection of earrings in the same tradition as Cleo and Malka — the Etruscan and Girandole lineages that first pulled me toward antiquity.

Rubies. Opals. Pearls. Tourmalines. Sapphires.
Recycled 9k yellow gold and sterling silver.

Some in wax still, almost ready to cast. And some in the final touches.

I wear this one every day.

This is my Pritha Ring, the piece I made for myself in recycled 9k yellow gold, with my two children's fingerprints on either side of a small orange sapphire.

The shape is unusual. A little off-centre, softly curved, quiet enough that most people don't notice. But I know. Every time I look at my hand, I see them.

The orange sapphire between them, small and warm, is just for me. A stone that catches the light on grey days.

Meet the Pritha Impression Necklace.

A small pendant that holds a fingerprint.
Yours, or someone you love.

A child's first print.
A grandparent's last.
A partner's hand against yours.

Each one is hand-carved with organic edges, finished
in recycled sterling silver or recycled 9k yellow gold,
and hung on one of our five chains, including the studio's
original "paperclip chain".

Most people only know sapphires as blue.

But Australia produces some of the world's most distinctive sapphires — and they come in green, yellow, pink, orange, and sometimes more than one colour in a single crystal.

I have three of them in the studio right now. All untreated, all from Rubyvale or New England, all available to design around.

One necklace. Everyone she carries.

The silhouette of her son — the first charm, made before any of the others.
The silhouette of her daughter — added when the family grew.
Her eldest's fingerprint, set with a blue sapphire, his initial stamped on the back.
Her youngest's fingerprint, set with a red garnet, taken when she was still a tiny baby.
Two small stones — orange and pink — for two babies she carried but never met.
An infinity symbol — for the friend who is, in every way that matters, family.

All held together on our studio paperclip chain.
Worn every day, close to her heart.

This piece didn't arrive all at once. It began with one charm and grew slowly,
as her life did. Each addition was made here in the studio and hung beside
what came before.

That's what this kind of piece is — a necklace that grows with you.
