COOMERA SPRINGS C&K
The Coomera Springs C&K was moved a little to the south of Coomera Springs State School to make way for the Qld State Government’s new Special School. Good to see locals checking it out this morning with Mark Boothman MP, Theodore and I there to take a look at the new facility. Mindful of Council’s responsibility for waste collection this is my reminder to have the bins serviced at the new location!!

A heads-up for motorists travelling between Oxenford and Wongawallan.

As part of The Department of Transport and Main Roads ongoing storm damage restoration program, nightworks and single-lane closures will be required on Tamborine-Oxenford Road, approximately 800m south of Hayes Road near the Eagle Heights Hotel Motel.

• 18 October to mid-November 2026
• 7pm to 5am nightly

The works include replacing a culvert beneath the road, with traffic controllers and portable traffic signals in place where required.

Please take care around the work zone, follow signage and allow a little extra travel time. Weather and site conditions may result in changes to the works schedule.

Female participation in sport is at a record high, increasing on the Gold Coast by almost 50 per cent since 2021. This growth has highlighted the need to modernise sporting facilities that were traditionally designed for male use. It's what prompted me to fight for the upgrade of female amenities right across the Gold Coast to deliver upgrades where necessary.

18 city venues were prioritised for the urgent delivery of club facilities, including AFL, football, rugby league, rugby union and cricket . Improvement is underway at Coomera Sports Park with the first modular units being installed for Coomera Crushers Rugby Union Club. Internal fit-out and external civil works are expected to be completed by late November.

Coomera Crushers will be followed by Coomera Cutters Rugby League. With participation and spectatorship in women’s sport continuing to rise ahead of Brisbane 2032, this investment ensures female athletes have safe, appropriate facilities to participate and excel.

QUEENSLAND GIVES

Fantastic to see community groups receive funding from the Gold Coast Community Foundation last week. The Foundation, established by former Mayor Gary Baildon, raises funds for distribution to charitable organisations delivering services and programs to benefit people across the city. An inspiring Q&A featuring Soheil and Anne Abedian and Sonia Stradiotto (entertaining thank you Emily Jade O’Keeffe) highlighted the generosity of our very own Goldcoasters.
