Embrace pressure.
Henry Kissinger is famously credited with the motivational quote, “A diamond is a chunk of coal that did well under pressure.”
It is frequently used to symbolize how enduring difficult hardships can refine a person into something valuable.
While poetically inspiring, the analogy is technically incorrect.
The Metaphor: It paints a picture of a singular piece of carbon being forged from the same geological source, which is then shaped and crystallized by pressure.
Pressure builds diamonds…and character.
