It's easy to focus on the finished ring, but every ring making workshop is made up of lots of small moments and decisions that slowly shape the final piece.

A little more filing, a different texture, a stamp on the inside, one last adjustment. The finished ring is only a small part of the story.

A look back at a recent wedding ring workshop with Nancy & Frank, and the rings they created for their wedding day.

Over the course of the workshop they made a rustic, forged set of sterling silver rings, shaping and finishing each piece by hand here in Bruges.

It's always nice to see the rings being worn on the wedding day and know they'll be part of many more memories in the years ahead.

When this fellowship of friends got in touch about their bachelor celebration for Jordy, they asked if the workshop could be themed around Lord of the Rings and suggested we play the soundtrack while we worked on rings together.

Of course, I immediately got excited and suggested Gandalf could host the workshop! With the candles lit, the workshop set a little darker, and the LOTR soundtrack playing in the background, the groom was transformed into a hobbit and we were all set!

Behind the costumes and laughter, everyone spent the session making their own rings by hand, creating a unique piece to each take home from the day celebrating Jordy.

A fantastic group to host and one I won't be forgetting any time soon.

Wedding ring workshop with Emmelie & Paco.

For this workshop we reused family heirloom 18ct gold and a treasured stone, transforming them into a new pair of bespoke wedding rings. Using existing materials in this way allows the history behind them to remain part of the finished rings. Together, we chose each element of the rings to create a lasting connection to the people wearing them.

From our first meetings to discuss their plans through to wearing their finished rings on their wedding day, every detail was carefully considered along the way. From proportions and finishes through to the addition of fingerprints inside the rings, each decision helped shape the final pieces.

Congratulations Emmelie & Paco on your wedding day, and thank you for the trust placed in me with such important rings. Thank you for visiting the workshop and for being part of the journey.

This month, the workshop turns 7!!!

What began as a small idea to share the craft of silversmithing with people visiting and living in Bruges has grown into a workshop filled with memories, well-used hammers, and the energy of the thousands of people who have passed through the door over the years.

Looking back at those early days and comparing them to the workshop today, a lot has changed. New benches, new tools, countless rings made, and many friendships and stories created along the way.

What hasn't changed is the enjoyment of sharing the process and helping people create something meaningful with their own hands here in Bruges.

Thank you to everyone who has visited the workshop and been part of the journey over the last seven years. Looking forward to the next seven.

Engraved details, carefully chosen stones and personal design choices all become part of the final pieces — creating bespoke rings that feel closely connected to the people wearing them.
