This beech vessel is finished only on the inside with a few coats of Japanese lacquer. On the outside, I wanted to let the beautiful natural color of the wood shine through. As a subtle accent, I felt that a layer of silver leaf on the handle was a fitting touch.

Under Oren’s expert guidance, I was able to learn at how to carve the perfect fork (also known as a pointy spoon 😉) from wood. Here are the first results.

At , after the workshop by , I started carving a spoon inspired by his example, but with a little LEGO figure on it. Unfortunately, the little guy suddenly lost his head.

The next day, when I wanted to try again, a few people thought it would actually be better if he stayed headless and climbed up the spoon instead. While carving, the story kept growing on its own: he was on his way to retrieve his head, which was sitting on top of the spoon. Of course, he needed a rope for that… and as if that wasn’t enough, there was also a snail sitting on his head.

It was an amazing day! Thanks to and .knives for adding extra chapters to the story 😊

I attended two incredibly interesting workshops with him and had the chance to admire the amazingly beautiful frog cup with my own eyes. What a masterpiece! 🤯

Feeling hugely inspired, I immediately got to work the next day to create my own “LEGO version” of it 😆

This cup was made from a beautiful piece of beech wood, although there were a few weak spots in some areas. That’s why I decided to reinforce it and finish it with urushi. The outside received two coats. I didn’t want it to become too dark, and this way the beautiful grain of the wood remains clearly visible ✨

, thank you for the inspiration!

These are my first two finished teapots, both crafted from a beautiful piece of oak. The interior is finished with Japanese lacquer, and each teapot has a matching lid. They are made entirely from a single piece of wood: partly turned on the lathe and then further shaped by hand. I’m very pleased with the result.

At Camp & Carve, organized by , I had the pleasure of meeting . His way of thinking and working inspired me so much that I immediately wanted to explore it in my own carving.

When offered a piece of Swedish birch, I knew right away: this had to become a Jonas meets spoon.

I’m very happy with the result. This spoon taught me a lot once again

I think the 20% fun is definitely visible here😉
