Learning and intellectual pursuits are a big part of who I am, and since this page is largely an extension of myself, I thought it needed some more facts !

Five Silver Facts:

1 - Silver holds the highest left rival conductivity of any element on earth.

2 - Silver ions are toxic to bacteria, making silver a natural germ-killer.

3 - Silver has been used as a currency for thousands of years. In ancient Egypt, silver was valued higher than gold.

4- Mexico is the world’s largest silver producer. Peru has the most silver reserves.

5 - Unlike many heavy metals, silver is not toxic to humans, and is edible!

How is Silver “Made”?

Process 1: Supernova Creation. Silver atoms are formed in massive stars and released into space when they explode.

Process 2: Earth Formation. These silver atoms become part of Earth’s crust as the planet forms.

Process 3: Mining and Extraction. Silver is lined from ores like argentite or as a byproduct of copper, lead, and zinc mining.

Process 4: Refining and Purification. Crushed ore is smelted or chemically/electrolytically refined to produce pure silver.

Process 5: Manufacturing into Products. The pure silver is shaped into jewellery, coins, electronics, mirrors, or industrial components.
