You don't need a massive acreage to make a huge difference for our favourite hard-working insects. Here are three quick, easy ways to make your yard the talk of the hive this season:

Plant in clusters: Bees love efficiency. Planting a dense patch of the same flower (like lavender, borage, or echinacea) makes it much easier for them to forage than scattering single plants around.

Set up a bee pub: Bees get incredibly thirsty! Put out a shallow dish filled with water and add a layer of marbles or pebbles. This gives them a perfectly safe place to land and drink without the danger of drowning.

There’s nothing quite like that first thorough Spring Inspection. After a long Atlantic winter, getting a look at the health of the colony is the best way to kick off the season.

Today’s mission:

Checking the Brood: Looking for a solid, healthy pattern to ensure the Queen is back in top form.

Food Stores: Making sure they have enough fuel to keep up with the spring build-up before the first major nectar flow.

Space Management: Ensuring they have room to grow so they don't start eyeing the nearest tall tree for a swarm!

It’s a great feeling to see the hive humming and productive again. Here's to a successful and sting-free season!
