🚨JUST IN: Banishment Lawsuit Against Chairman LeBeau and Attorney General Craven Goes Federal

A lawsuit challenging the unconstitutional banishment of Cheyenne River tribal members is headed to federal court. The case, filed against Tribal Chairman Ryman LeBeau and Attorney General Kimberly Craven, will be heard September 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM CT in Pierre, South Dakota. Steven Gunn will be representing Craven and LeBeau.

At the center of the case: banishment orders issued without due process, stripping members of their right to their own homeland. Tribal members have raised concerns over due-process and appeal rights, the Banishment Resolution states that banished members forfeit their land and have no right to appeal. This is a developing story.
