I want to take a moment to share something personal and difficult. My family is currently navigating through a challenging time, as my father enters the final stages of his life. In light of this, I have made the decision to step away from my business temporarily to be fully present with him and my loved ones.

Metallic abrasion is a normal, harmless process whereby tiny particles of metal rub off of your jewelry, leaving black or green marks on your skin.
How does this happen? Typically caused by lotion, cosmetics, cleaning products, even sweat, that contain harder compounds than what your jewelry is made of.
How to remedy metallic abrasion? Simply wash your skin with mild soap and water to remove the harmless black or green marks. Next, cleanse your jewelry with mild soap and a soft bristle brush (I give everyone a thank you gift with both of these at your first appointment !) to remove the offending compound.
Overall, metallic abrasion is a normal process that is not reflective of the quality of your solid gold, 14k gold-filled, or sterling silver jewelry. It is easily corrected, and not akin to skin staining that can be difficult to remove from poorer quality metals. While we can’t prevent sweating, switching to cleaner, less chemically laden lotions, cosmetics, or cleaning products can be helpful with preventing it from occuring.
