Two new as yet un-named rings.

The black onyx on the one ring spins!
Great fidget ring! (please see the end of this post for info on the benefits of black onyx)
Loads of indentations of various sizes were achieved with various drill bits.
A liver of sulphur patina was used to blacken the indentations and also the exterior of the ring shank.
I've not used l.o.s in the negative space on a piece before but I love the look of it and will def incorporate it in some future work.
A plus is there is no need to try to polish the hard to reach spaces!

The second ring is also sterling silver.
The textures were achieved using various items including the filter from a range hood. Liver of sulphur was used to highlight the textures on this ring as well.

A spy ring. Size 10.5

Sterling silver and a peep hole for a door.

Created this ring from sterling silver. The silver was in sheet form before being meticulously measured, sawn out ,forged, formed filed, sanded and soldered.

The centrepiece of this ring is an actual peep hole for a door! Found at a yard sale!
When you hold this up to your eye you get a whole new perspective on life!

"Victor Victorian"

I have been trying to clean up my work spaces in preparation for some "fussy" jobs I have on deck.
With that goal in mind I set about FINALLY incorporating the components into a pendant!

The brass wire was made thinner by heating to glowing red, quenching, pickling and using a hand driven draw plate to draw it down to the thickness I was looking for.

The brass things on the four corners are actually upholstery nails.
I utilized them as rivets.

The part that the brass bail attaches to runs through the whole piece and is made from work hardened stainless steel clock stock.

The large centrepiece is from a retired piece of costume jewellery.
The black backing is a piece of carbon fibre scabbed out of an old router.
You just never know what is in a piece of electronic equipment until you tear it apart!

A lot of work went into this piece. Sometimes working with found materials can be every bit as challenging, and time consuming, as working with materials that I create!

I have been going through my "someday" boxes.

Many of the items were set aside (some of them years ago) because I was either not inspired or simply could not figure out a way to incorporate them in a design.
Unfortunately the latter happens far too often.
Oh the joy of using odd materials!

Ingredients:
Watch part, steel clock rod, brass, mother of pearl, doll's eye (she was done with it), sterling silver, spring from an ancient reel to reel and copper.

The eye is set in a hand made sterling bezel.
The bezel was soldered to a steel component, the origin of which escapes me, before the eye was set.

I created a hinge for the top portion. It allows the piece to move freely with the wearer. It is super comfy!
The bail (what a necklace goes through) opens and closes so the pendant can be attached to a jump ring or a chain.

The spring connecting the top and bottom portions has been trimmed to size to allow the bottom portion of the pendant to move independently.

The mother of pearl is set on a brass backing.
Looking to find a home for it!
