Is all 18K yellow gold the same colour?

No. Two rings can both be 18K and look nothing alike. The karat tells you how much gold is in there. It doesn’t tell you what else is, and that’s what sets the colour.

Most of it arrives pre-mixed. You order yellow, yellow shows up, and whatever shade that happens to be is the shade your ring is.

We alloy ours in the studio. So when you tell us you want it lighter. And most people do, once they see the options next to each other. We mix for that.

It’s a choice most people don’t know they have.

How long does it take to get an engagement ring resized in Ottawa?

Usually a few weeks. Your ring gets packed up, sent off to whoever does the work, and comes back when it comes back. Which is the worst possible timing — you just got engaged, everyone wants to see it, and it’s in an envelope somewhere.

Yours doesn’t go anywhere. You bring it to the same workshop it was made in, and we size it while you wait. Same bench. Same people who built it.

That’s the part that matters to us. We made your ring. We’re the ones who look after it — for as long as you’re wearing it.

We get asked about elongated cushions more than almost anything else. And honestly there’s more to them than most people realize.

The ratio is the obvious one. A 1.25 sits differently on a hand than a 1.35. One isn’t better than the other it depends on your fingers, your band width, what you want the stone to do.

Then the corners. Some cushions run pointy, some soft. Some sit halfway between antique and crushed ice. And the true antique cuts chunky facets, full of character — are a completely different ring than a modern brilliant.

None of these are small details. They change how the ring looks every single day.

So why settle? Why buy a stone without seeing the differences side by side and knowing exactly which one is yours?

An oval wants to move. The cut is all flow no corners, no hard stops and the bypass lets the metal follow it. The band doesn’t end at the stone; it wraps past it, one line of gold moving around the diamond and carrying on.

The brief was closeness. She wanted the ring low really low sitting almost flush against the finger, modern but organic. A bypass answers both. It hugs the hand by design, and the freeform wrap gives it movement without adding height. There’s a practical bonus built in: bypasses are among the most resilient settings for everyday wear. The stone sits protected inside the flow of the band.

Low, fluid, and quietly tough. An oval that moves the way the hand does.
