Why do I travel the world in search of gemstones?

Because every gem has a story, and the best stories often begin at the source.

Over the years, I’ve built relationships with specialized cutters, pearl experts, and gemstone suppliers from around the world. Whether it’s a vivid sapphire, a glowing ruby, a rare tourmaline, or a beautiful strand of pearls, knowing where to look allows me to find exceptional natural beauty at the best possible value for my clients.

The world is smaller than you think. A conversation in Las Vegas can lead to a gemstone from Sri Lanka, a pearl from the South Pacific, or a custom creation waiting to become someone’s future heirloom.

A highlight of my time in Las Vegas was visiting Frederique Constant and seeing firsthand the craftsmanship that goes into these Swiss-made timepieces.

From beautifully textured dials and elegant finishes to the thoughtful use of natural gemstones in select designs, every detail reflects a commitment to timeless style and precision. It’s inspiring to see how traditional Swiss watchmaking continues to evolve while staying true to its heritage.

The hunt for exceptional gemstones continues.

This week, I had the privilege of sourcing directly from some of the world’s premier cutting centres, hand-selecting remarkable gems for upcoming custom creations. From vibrant Chrome Tourmalines and rich Pink Tourmalines to stunning Coloured Sapphires, vivid Rubies, and breathtaking Opals with incredible flashes of colour, each stone was chosen for its beauty, rarity, and character.

One of the greatest advantages of travelling to these international shows is the opportunity to work directly with the people who cut and source these gems. It allows me to bring unique, one-of-a-kind stones back to Port Elgin for truly custom Elgin pieces.
