Born January 2012, most of COVEN's pieces are handcrafted and assembled in the designer's private downtown Queen West studios in Toronto. COVEN pieces are designed on the belief that your jewelry is an investement and that a piece should be treasured throughout its lifetime. COVEN jewellery, accessories, and home decor use a variety of materials: leather, elastic, resin, ceramics, glass, semi-prec
ious stones, crystals, woods, fabrics, metals, and vintage components. Designer, Sonia Kang, is a juxtaposition of cultural contradictions: of Taiwanese ethnicity, born in Argentina, and raised in Canada. Artistic since childhood she has dabbled with drawing, fashion design, clay, book-binding, and painting before starting COVEN. She is completely self-taught and has an educational background in Environmental Studies and Management. In summer of 2012 she interned for Canadian jewelry designer, Jenny Bird. COVEN pieces were featured in Ellements Magazine, Auxillary Magazine, La Damme Magazine in the UK, W25 Magazine, Ottawa Fashion Week 2012 with INNA Clothing, Fashion Series, COCO Magazine, and sponsored Dystropolis at FAT 2013.
