Liane Vaz is a maker, designer, and jeweller - specializing in handmade pieces and custom work in both precious and alternative materials.

In 2009, Liane began the first of four (and some) years at OCAD University in the Jewellery & Metalsmithing program. Now, Liane has graduated OCAD University and manages a jewellery supply store on Queen West. She is a practicing jeweller and an active part of the jewellery community in Toronto. She volunteers her time at the Metal Arts Guild of Canada, and is taking various online courses on Business and Entrepreneurship. Her dream is to open up her own collaborative jewellery studio in the near future.

You can find Liane in the studio working either on her own projects or helping someone with theirs. And when she's not in the studio she's usually attempting to keep up with various television shows and online lectures, watching Disney movies or documentaries, or planning events and group activities.

happy birthday to ME and happy official start to spooky season for everyone!

as the harbinger of halloween it is my duty and honor to remind you to embrace the chill in the air, revel in the sounds of the wind through drying leaves, look for the moon every night, watch a scary movie or tv show (it’s good for you), and don’t take for granted that we have SEASONS 🍂

In Love & Death 💖⚰️

wedding anniversary band for H! H knew exactly what she wanted when she ordered the CIRCE diamond-cut band. This is actually the first time I’ve made this band in this width - my clients have always wanted to go much slimmer in profile. I was really excited and happy with how this turned out - and so did H!

cool teal sapphire for R to match A’s eyes ✨ how romantiiiiiic!

R knew immediately what style of ring he’d like - we chose my classic LUNA design (center stone flanked by two triangular framed settings) and then went on the hunt for that special center stone.

We went through over 10 options before R found the right one - and from there it was simple to build the rest of the ring 🪩

The Willow Tree & Ghost Cameo Ring reimagines the traditional cameo through the lens of contemporary craftsmanship. This piece features a vintage-inspired matte black spooky scene against a warm bone-white base - we love our little spooky friend hanging out in a willow-tree lined cemetery under a crescent moon ;)

minty sapphire to complete a pair 🩵 I actually made D’s engagement ring a few years ago, and they recently contacted me to make a ring for their partner 🥳

We chose a 1ct naturally icy pale green sapphire, set in white gold. No frills, pure minimalism (me? doing minimalism? what?!) with a flat polished band and tiger claw settings. Easy peasy - which was great as we needed to get this ring done ASAP!

custom brooch for R on his wedding day 🌿 made from vintage molds, I cast the leaves and flowers in brass, and set synthetic emeralds to match R’s wedding palette. along with the wedding bands and engagement ring, I was honored to also make this special piece for R and his now-wife!

from one chapter to another 🖤 when M came in to pick up her memento mori ring with a fressssh new puppy in her arms I could have just about burst into tears.

the loss of a fur baby is an incredibly unique and painful thing. you bring something into your life knowing that you will have both endless happiness and eternal grief, all at once.

M wanted to forever commemorate her previous dog, sweet R, and so we made a sterling silver wave band. The little speckly black heart on the exterior contains some of R’s ashes.

unknowingly to all of us as the design was confirmed before new puppy A came into M’s life - A has a little black heart shape on their face 💘 AGH

sapphires for september! probably one of the most versatile stones out there in terms of durability, color, and variation! whether you’re going for an eye-clean single color specimen, a parti (two-tone), something with silky inclusions, or even a color-change, you CANNOT go wrong with a sapphire EVER, I swear it!

Sapphires are the birthstone for September, and also the markers for 5th and 35th anniversaries.

FUN FACT: It’s so durable, synthetic sapphire is used for the windows of some supermarket scanners and alsooooo spacecraft!

An enchanted faerie ring if I ever saw one. A huge thanks and congratulations to M who recently got engaged with this stellar piece.

M saw my classic Faerie Tourmaline ring and she immediately wanted her own version with a moody green sapphire. We went back and forth on a few different colors and cuts and ultimately landed on this emerald-cut with hues that look like a watercolour painting of a deep lake.

My favorite ombre-diamond accents round out the whole piece to create a truly one of a kind ring for M.

I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST SAY HELLO AGAIN 👋🏼 🥀

it’s easy for me to go about my day on instagram and assume people know who i am, what i’m into, what i look like etc but the reality is that there are lots of ya who may not know this is (more or less) a one-cowgirl rodéo over here!

or at the very least a teeny tiny ranch of rotating farmhands? what am i prattling on about

the facts:
I make custom jewellery (surprise!), i love watching movies of almost any genre (horror/thriller and romcoms are tops though), and i’m never not on the hunt for a new trinket. any ANYTHING can be a trinket. this is why my house is a mess always. oops.

the falsities:
social media is crazy because people assume i am go go go go going all the time and my calendar is super full. while i do like to live a busy life, i also prioritize making time for myself and my friends and family.

guys. the summer sucks. i do not like the heat. I do not like the bugs. I do not like that people ascribe “beautiful weather” to the summer seasons when that is just an opinion. BRING ON THE -BER MONTHS I AM READY.

i make aaaaallllll sorts of jewellery, not just rings! I still find it funny when someone asks me “do you make necklaces?” YES OF COURSE! Just because I post mainly rings doesn’t mean that’s all I do… in fact my website should give you a pretty good idea of my breadth of work. BUT ALSO I specialize in custom work which means I can make you almost anything (but please do not send me your AI generated “sketches” I beg of you - they’re never accurate and half the time can’t even be made in real life)
