Tourmaline is the October birthstone, and watermelon tourmaline is one of its most recognizable forms.

The colours come from the crystal's chemistry shifting as it grows. You'll usually see a pink core wrapped in a green rim, and occasionally it's the reverse.

It's also a great stone to wear. Tourmaline sits at 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale, so it's hard enough for everyday jewelry like rings, pendants, and earrings.

In metaphysical practice, watermelon tourmaline is linked to the heart chakra. Pink is tied to love and compassion, and green to healing and emotional balance. Together, it's often used for self-love and bringing the heart into harmony.
