you might hate me for saying this but... gold-plated shouldn’t even be in your vocabulary 👀
Imagine spending money on jewelry just for it to fade and tarnish after day to day wear… it’s 2026 babe!! If your jewellery can’t survive a shower or a swim without being tarnished, then we need to talk... :
Most “anti-tarnish” gold plated or gold vermeil jewellery is just gold plating over base metals. That thin layer may start off pretty, but it will always wear off. Especially when exposed to water, skin care, sweat, perfumes and simple day to day friction. The second the plating wears thin, it oxidizes and turns your skin green.. not a good look. Even if you buy plated jewellery for a lower price, you will have to eventually replace it which makes gold plated options more expensive in the long run.
Solid gold is completely different - the gold goes all the way through the piece which means it will never tarnish, face or wash away. You can wear it every day, and so long as you care for your gems, they will stay shining throughout every season of life. Solid gold also holds real value. It can be repaired, resized, polished and even melted and re-designed into a brand new piece years later if you ever want something new. Solid gold is a precious heirloom for a reason - because it was made to last forever.
If you are building a real jewellery collection, solid gold is the only investment that actually grows with you. Plated jewellery is temporary. Solid gold is forever! 💛✨
