In response to a recent post to the Vernon Rant and Rave Group...
Furmanek Jewellers takes all customer experiences seriously. However, we must respectfully reject the consumer's demand for financial compensation regarding this incident.
When a customer leaves a piece of jewelry in our care, they are issued a physical claim check. Our company policyโwhich is standard across the jewelry industryโdictates that property is released strictly to the bearer presenting that specific ticket.
The physical claim check was issued directly to Amanda Richards. However Amanda Richards in now unable to provide the claim check.
When a customer loses a claim check and fails to notify the business, they breach their duty of care under basic bailment laws.
On May 20, 2025 an individual arrived at our premises, presented the valid, physical claim check, and the jewelry or in this case the cash for the sold jewelry was released to them. The customer did not notify our store that her ticket was lost, stolen, or compromised at any point prior to this transaction. Because a claim check operates as a bearer document, we processed the transaction in good faith according to our standard procedures.
While we deeply sympathize with the customer's loss of her property, the store cannot accept liability for items claimed using a ticket that was lost or mishandled while in the customer's possession.
To resolve this matter amicably, we are fully prepared to provide the customer with a copy of the pickup receipt, exact timestamps, and any relevant security details so she can file a report with local law enforcement.
We remain committed to assisting the police investigation into the unauthorized individual who utilized her missing ticket.
Sincerely,
Ryan Furmanek
