It's Mini Series Monday!!
and I've started a new "edition" - Nature Edition!
For cool flowers, waterfalls, rivers, rocks and anything else that doesn't quite fit into the other categories!
I wanted to start off this edition with something I had never seen and probably will never see again in my lifetime!
Y'all know the Prairie Crocus is my favorite flower of all time. I've certainly painted a lot of them on my antler jewelry lol
April 2020, I was hiking around my dad's property, looking for some pretty Crocus' to take pictures of and to pick a few to take home.
WELL. I found some pretty ones to take a picture of alright!
Never in my life have I ever seen PINK Crocus'!! 4 of them!! I was absolutely blown away!! I wasn't sure if I was imagining it because I thought these were just faded out, regular purple Crocus'!
Overtime after a Crocus blooms, the dark purple they are, eventually fades. There are obviously flower genes that make the Crocus' different shades of purple. But after looking around to other Crocus flowers, I determined these were in fact, pink! (You can see some purple ones in the back of a few of the pictures)
I thought about picking one to press then later laminate so I could have it forever but I chose not too. Yes, I kick myself for not doing that lol but I left these little beauties as they were ๐ฉท
I've been back to that spot several times in the years that followed to see if they bloomed again but they haven't returned. I believe this was a one time occurrence and I could be wrong! I know I'd love to see them again!
