Sapphire Nugget Pendant
A naturally pale yellow sapphire nugget, completely irregular in shape, which is exactly what I loved about it.
I carved the wax by hand directly around the sapphire, following its natural contours rather than trying to make the stone fit into a traditional setting.
Around the sides, I added small natural sapphires in different shades of blue and yellow, choosing and placing each one individually as the piece evolved.
Then came my favorite part, seeing the blue wax become gold.
I kept the finish soft and brushed and the shape intentionally organic. I wanted the finished piece to still carry the feeling of the wax I had worked on at my bench, the texture, the small imperfections, and the hand behind it.
