Marchesa Carina Negrone set a record—that remains to this day—for flying at 12,043 meters in an open-cockpit propeller-driven plane. Prior to this, it was believed that humans could not fly above 11,000 meters. Later, she set the record for flying from Brescia, Italy to Luxor, Egypt in 13 hours and 34 minutes nonstop.

She was nothing short of a pioneer of the skies at a time when flying meant danger.
