66g project was born from the vision of our client, Mr. V.A., an automotive tuner renowned on the European racing circuits of the 1970s for his relentless pursuit of lightness.

To reduce the original weight, the original case was reworked to integrate a titanium Grade 5®️ outer structure, engineered to reduce weight down to the gram.

A Titalyt®️treatment was applied through an electrochemical oxidation process, giving the metal a deep matte anthracite finish.

For 66g project, our ambition was to translate our client’s pursuit of lightness into a timepiece reduced to its purest essence.

Unveiling: The 66g

In the 1970s, our client, Mr. V.A., a Franco-Italian automotive tuner, made a name for himself on European racing circuits by optimizing machines for private racing teams. His craft: improving a vehicle’s handling, responsiveness and performance by eliminating unnecessary weight and making it ever lighter.

For the customization of his timepiece, he wished to apply that same level of rigor. The result is a timepiece weighing 66 grams stripped down to its essentials, where every removal of material answers both a mechanical necessity and a philosophy.

To reduce the original weight, the original case was reworked to integrate a titanium Grade 5®️ outer structure, engineered to reduce weight down to the gram.

Throwback to project.

When this legend approached us to personalize his timepiece, the challenge was to infuse an iconic design with the distinctive details and DNA we had previously defined together through his past personalization projects.

The starting point of the Ciottolo Azzurro Project was the blue “Azzurro,” a color that reminds Andrea Pirlo of the sea and freedom. Andrea wanted it to be deeper, more profound. He wanted to combine it with a skeleton movement.

To meet Andrea’s challenge, it required an array of know-how: some parts of the caliber are beveled, others circular-grained, or satin-finished, to bring depth, delicacy and light to the timepiece. The project demanded all our resources, from the oldest savoir-faire to today’s cutting-edge techniques.
