Twenty years after it became the first A. Lange & Söhne to put a chronograph and a perpetual calendar in the same case, the Datograph Perpetual is back in full 950 platinum, case and five-row bracelet. Eleven baguette-cut diamonds mark the hours on a black dial, with 4 and 8 left open for the rhodié subdials.

Underneath, the manually wound L952.1: 556 parts, 223 of them in the calendar alone, flyback chrono with a jumping minute counter, moon phase accurate to a day in 122 years. 41mm by 13.5mm, 36-hour reserve.

Limited to 50 pieces. Price on request, which with Lange means exactly what you think it means.

The Black Bay Chrono 39 “Bumblebee” is the most fun thing to come out of the Rolex family in a while. It’s 39mm, 13.1mm thick, running Tudor’s column-wheel MT5813 with 70 hours of reserve, chronometer certified, screw-down pushers, 200m of water resistance, and that yellow dial with the black subdials that Rolex would never sign off on for a Daytona. Same founder, same build standards, a lot more personality, and it comes in under $7,000 on the bracelet. Put it next to a Daytona and the Tudor is the one you keep looking at.

I went to Cleveland to visit Teddy Baldassarre’s new store and shoot a watch shopping video. What he didn’t know is that the real reason for my visit, to gift Teddy the first wrenwatches Vessel prototype as a thank you for all his support over the last few years.

Designed for 2075, not 1975.

Introducing the wrenwatches Vessel, an integrated bracelet sport watch built around a crystal unlike any other. The sapphire is cut with curved facets across its top surface and matching curved facets on its underside, so light moves across the glass while the dial stays perfectly legible from every angle. To Wren’s knowledge, the two have never been combined in a single crystal. In the first production attempt, only five of 100 survived.

The Vessel is Wren’s first watch that is not a diver, designed by founder Craig Karger with Max Resnick as a deliberate departure from the 1970s template that still defines the category. The 39mm cushion case is 904L steel and just 10.6mm thick, and is powered by a Swiss automatic movement.

Two launch editions are available: Meteorite at $3,400 and Steel Sunray at $2,900, each limited to 150 individually numbered pieces. Preorders are open now at wrenwatches.com
