Eighty pieces. That’s all this edition ever had.

Forty in black. Forty in white. The DWISS RT80 Racing Team was made in collaboration with Racing Team 80and closed the moment the last watch shipped.

The dial is skeletonized. You can see through it from the front and through the caseback from the back. In between is a fully decorated Peseux F324: perlage finishing on the plates, côtes de Genève on the bridges. Built with the kind of care you normally only see through a loupe at a trade show.

Two satellite discs orbit the dial simultaneously, each carrying an hour numeral. When the active disc arrives at the aperture, it reads the current hour precisely, then keeps moving. The next one is already in transit.

The DWISS Brasilia was made to mark the brand’s launch in Brasília. The case is 18k yellow gold. The dial is enamel, hand-painted with the National Congress of Brazil. The movement is COSC Chronometer certified. The edition was five pieces.

Not 500. Five.

We closed the Brasilia the moment those five watches left Lugano.

300 watches drawn for others before starting DWISS.

That’s how DWISS started. Before the first M1 left Lugano in 2011, Rafael Simões Miranda had already shaped more than 300 timepieces for other brands and personalities, including a limited edition for Sir Richard Branson. He had been collecting top international design awards since 2006 (Red Dot, iF, Good Design) and was teaching watch design in Milan.

DWISS was the first time the brief came from him.

That conviction is in every model since. Wandering hours. Mysterious hours. Floating hours. Displaced hours. Hour readings the big maisons would never sanction, because no industrial designer was running the room.

Today DWISS is still one designer’s studio, in Lugano. Strictly limited editions. Swiss Made. Never re-issued.

Year zero of DWISS. 2011. A long long time ago….

Before the awards. Before the wandering hours. Before the M3, the S1, or the A1. There was the M1.

43mm of 316L steel. Nine parts. Screwed together from the side rather than the back. An architecture you could see, not a finished shell you couldn’t open in your head.
