No other complication has taken centre stage on the dial of the Big Pilot’s Watch more often than the perpetual calendar.
Developed during the 1980s by IWC’s former head-watchmaker Kurt Klaus, the large dial not only lends itself well to the mechanism’s many display, but it also makes reading of the calendar information particularly easy. The Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar features a stainless steel case, a blue dial, rhodium-plated hands and a blue calfskin strap.

Imagined in Boston. Created in Schaffhausen

On the banks of the Rhine, the then 27-year-old watchmaker and engineer Florentine Ariosto Jones realized his bold vision of an industrialized, centralized watch production – powered directly by the current from the Rhine river. 156 years later we are opening a boutique in the home town of our founder.

During the opening period, visitors can discover a unique selection of early IWC-manufactured movements and pocket watches selected by the IWC Museum
in Schaffhausen. The exhibition showcases Jones’ industrialized approach and a variety of early IWC pocket watches. The boutique is designed in contrasting black and white. Black oak floors, large windows and spacious glass displays create a sense of openness and invite visitors to immerse themselves in the fascinating universe of IWC. The interior is inspired by the concrete formwork structures of industrial buildings.

We now offer watch enthusiasts the entire cosmos of the IWC watch families in Düsseldorf. Like all of IWC's recent new openings, the boutique was designed to be open, bright, inviting and focused on the essentials. The dominant colours are green, black, sand and white, which radiate calm and clarity. A cosy lounge area facing away from the street invites visitors to find out more about our collection and identity in 130 square metres.

Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the inner workings of the manufacture movements as well as the exceptional expertise in the field of innovative materials such as grade 5 titanium or ceramic for case manufacture.

As the fourth largest metropolitan region in Germany, the city offers a rich palette of historical sights and cultural attractions, and at the same time, Stuttgart is a center of mechanical engineering that reflects the engineering spirit that characterizes the Haute Horlogerie at IWC Schaffhausen.

The new IWC boutique offers 105 square meters with two comfortable lounge areas. A special highlight is the “Engineering Wall”, which
gives an insight into the inner workings of IWC's movements from IWC. Visitors can also find out more about about IWC's extensive know-how in the field of advanced materials such as grade 5 titanium and ceramic.
