We traditional Freedom March going to start at 3:00 pm from the Freedom Park (or Simon Bolívar Park) till WTF Event Center (in front a El Isleño Convention Center. There we going to have our great Freedom Concert with four of our outstanding raizal groups: Job Saas & The Heartbeat, Joe Taylor Fire Band, Creole Group and Caribbean New Style & Danner Dan Dan.

We only have words of pride and hope for a better future knowing that we have bright and talented young people filled with a strong sense of belonging!

The experience we’ve had these days with our candidates for the Miss Emancipation contest has been superb. All the Raizal People can feel absolutely proud of being represented by these girls.

Our candidates, with part of the Emancipation Week coordination and communications staff, had a wonderful pre-coronation ceremony lunch cortesy of Restaurante La Reg*tta, full of caribbean vibes and community.

The coronation night is here 👑

Tonight is the coronation gala of the Miss Emancipation pageant. All the candidates have played an outstanding role in representing their institution and their Raizal heritage but the jury will be the one to give its final verdict.

The event will be held at the Convention Center of the Decameron El Isleño Hotel at 7:00 p.m. and admission will be free, however, due to the capacity of the place, a number of tickets were given to each candidate and their deleg*tions and 300 free seats will be available for the general public.

The recommendation is to arrive early and to behave appropriately for this exciting night. We check later!

CORONATION JURIES CRITERIA:
1. African Dance Presentation (15 points)
2. ⁠Raizal traditional dance presentation (15 points)
3. ⁠Skit / Family Presentation (15 points)
4. ⁠Overall Cultural Knowledge Demonstration— Interview with Jury (20 Points)
5. ⁠Questions and Answer Segment (20 points)
6. ⁠Poise and Presense (15 points)

AUTONOMY & SELF-DETERMINATION
Voices and Experiences of Autonomy in the Greater Caribbean

At 4:00 pm this Wednesday, at the Bank of the Republic, international expert in governance and decolonization Carlyle Corbin (from Virginia Islands), along the Raizal leaders Corine Duffis, Jairo Rodríguez and Edmiston Williams, will be participating in the panel ‘Autonomy & Self-Determination’. Every one is invited!

This is part of the series ‘Voices of Emancipation’, organized by Emancipation Week, being Corbin the central guest in this opportunity due to his trajectory from different fronts (including the United Nations) in favor of human rights in several Caribbean islands and, precisely, in the strengthening of their processes of self-determination and autonomy.
