---Summer eczema must be treated differently depending on the cause. If mites are the trigger, the best approach is to wash the horse regularly with the SOS Skin Care Shampoo for Mites and then apply the SOS Skin Care Ointment or Lotion. If necessary, the affected areas can also be treated with the bio-skin oil or silver salve. Flies are often the trigger for eczema, and it is important to protect horses from them, ideally with an eczema rug and effective insect repellent, which should not, however, be applied to open wounds. Regular washing with, for example, the Tea Tree Body Wash helps to reduce sweat and sebum and keeps insects at bay naturally. Tea tree oil also reduces itching and can be applied in the form of the Tea Tree Care Lotion. The classic treatment for eczema symptoms involves applying the bio-skin oil in the evening, treating any bleeding areas with the silver salve during the day if necessary, and washing regularly with the MED Wash Lotion before reapplying. The bio-skin oil should not be applied in direct sunlight, but rather overnight or under a blanket. Of course, optimising the diet is also part of the management plan to get through the summer well.
