IWC Da Vinci 3755: Ceramic meets gold.
In the mid 1980s, while the Swiss watch industry was still recovering from the quartz crisis, IWC deliberately focused on mechanical innovation. Kurt Klaus developed the legendary perpetual calendar with chronograph, moonphase and four digit year display, all conveniently operated through the crown.
Shortly afterwards, IWC went one step further. The Da Vinci Ref. 3755 appeared with a case combining black high tech ceramic and 18k gold. One of the earliest documented black examples dates from December 1986.
The 3755 itself is already rare today. Our example, however, also features the original solid 18k yellow gold IWC bracelet. While most known examples appear on leather straps, watches fitted with the solid gold bracelet are exceptionally difficult to find. A reliable production number specifically for the yellow gold bracelet version has never been documented.
Black ceramic, solid yellow gold and one of the most important perpetual calendars of its era. A combination that still looks extraordinary almost 40 years later.
