Lonely Man's Dream marks a milestone for Forager Records: our tenth release, and perhaps our most personal. More than a compilation, it is a self-portrait. A reflection of the musical obsessions, late-night discoveries, and restless digging that have defined this label from our first record to this latest one.

Spanning the dreamy psychedelic folk of the 1970s to the cool shimmer of 1980s synth pop, Lonely Man's Dream traces a decade of curatorial wandering. Eleven artists. Eleven songs. Each one rare, obscure, or otherwise lost to the margins of music history. Among them, two tracks surface here for the very first time: “Never Say Goodbye” by Cocktails and Dreams, a synth pop transmission from Norway, luminous and weightless as the skies on the cover. “True Love” by Keith Jones, a drum machine backed demo that pulses with a late night intimacy.

What unites these songs across genre and era is the same quality we have always chased; a transporting ache, the sound of someone searching, or the feeling of a memory you can't quite place. Like every record before it, this one asks nothing of you but your full attention and an open ear.

Ten releases in, we are still looking for the same thing we started with. We hope you feel it too.

Indie-rock darlings the Meat Puppets didn’t miss a meat, er, beat with their move from SST to the major London label and their release of 1991’s Forbidden Places. In fact, the album arguably represented a step up from their late-period work at SST, displaying that offhandedly brilliant charm that won the band so many fans in the first place.

The album opener Sam is a frenzied rocker that recalls the early days with maniacal, “auctioneer”-style vocals, and the album closing, pickin’ and spinnin’ instrumental Six Gallon Pie is equally breakneck in tempo and dazzling in ex*****on. No Longer Gone offers a hit of that desert mysticism that leavened albums like Meat Puppets II and Up on the Sun, and Whirlpool showcases Curt Kirkwood’s underrated guitar chops. In short, an essential piece of the Puppets’ catalog, finally widely available at retail on vinyl for the first time since its release 35 years ago. C

Rock för kropp och själ stands as the final, definitve statement from Träd, Gräs och Stenar during their original tenure with the legendary Silence label. By 1972, the band had reached a breaking point.

After five years of relentless touring—defined by marathon three-to-four-hour performances delivered four or five nights a week—the collective was physically and creatively spent.

The weight of expectation had become a burden; the band felt pressured to deliver "maximum ecstasy" and total psychic immersion at every single gig. This period of high-intensity "flipped out" performances culminated in their final appearance at the Falun prison in July 1972, after which the members dispersed to refocus and recreate their individual artistic paths.

The Recording
A hybrid of studio precision and raw, live energy, Rock för kropp och själ was captured partly at the iconic Studio Decibel and partly during their storied live excursions. This release includes a Bonus LP featuring essential live recordings from Denmark and Gothenburg, capturing the band’s improvisational prowess at its peak.
