Meet Paco.
Our new ambassador, in-house collector, and the only man we know who can look at a watch for three seconds and tell you whether it has soul.
Paco does not follow trends.
He remembers when today’s grails were sitting quietly in display cases.
He has opinions on case proportions, bracelet integration, and why some watches should never be polished.
He smokes slowly.
He collects seriously.
And when the world argues, Paco wears the watch.
Introducing Paco’s Wrist, our new collector series from ETP Watches.
First up: the Patek Philippe Cubitus 5821/1AR-001.
“They laughed when the Cubitus arrived.
Of course they did.
Collectors say they want something new, until a brand actually gives them something new. The media saw a square Nautilus. I saw Patek testing the future of its own language.
Do you actually want something new, or just another version of what already made you comfortable?
The Cubitus is not trying to please everyone. That is why I like it. It has tension: steel and rose gold, sport and elegance, familiarity and discomfort. It feels recognisably Patek, but with a sharper, more modern posture.
I understand the idea behind it. Patek needed a watch for a new generation, not by abandoning its heritage, but by stretching it.
The best watches are not always loved immediately. Sometimes the crowd needs time.
I wear the Cubitus because it is early.
Because it has conviction.
And because by the time everyone understands it, I will already have lived with it.”
