Take a walk on a path in which we follow the feelings, concepts and roots of a different and unique amazonic culture.
Tagua and its carved shapes in their natural form fascinates by virtue of their aesthetic characteristics, ecological material and its similarities with ivory.
Tagua means?
Tagua, also known as the ivory nut or vegetable ivory, is the seed of the Phytelephas Aequatorialis tree. It grows in the tropical humid forests of the Pacific region, particularly in Panama, Colombia and Ecuador. As the name suggests, it shares remarkable similarities with elephant ivory in both looks and feel. It is amazingly tough, allowing for intricate carving by skilled artisans and can be polished to a brilliant ivory cream. And the best part? No elephants are harmed in the process!
