Modern Fashion Ring | RhinoArtisan

A wide open-work fashion ring with pave rails does not build itself cleanly in generic CAD.

Two intersecting bands, a geometric open lattice, pave settings mapped onto a curved surface, and a two-tone split between white and rose gold. In RhinoArtisan, the geometry is defined parametrically from guide curves, and the stone placement along both rails is calculated automatically from stone diameter. What typically absorbs most of a design session is handled in the toolset, not rebuilt by hand.

The render at the end of the workflow is the final proof.

Sapphire Ring Design | RhinoArtisan

Fourteen oval sapphires. Each one seated in a half-bezel with two rows of pavé running the full circumference. This is the kind of piece that looks straightforward until you are inside the file.

The challenge in a full pavé eternity band is not the individual setting. It is the repetition across a curved surface, with consistent stone-to-stone spacing and prong geometry that holds at every point around the band, not just at the top.

In RhinoArtisan, the gemstone placement reads live off the mesh surface. The diameter callouts are active as you position each stone, which means the spacing between sapphires and the surrounding pavé stays exact across all fourteen units, not approximate.

The render is Loom. No manual light setup. No export. The model closes and the visual is ready.

Every CAD session begins before the design does. Parameters re-entered by hand. Imported geometry that refuses to behave inside a system it was not built for. A ring size read from the model by whoever set it up last, or not read at all, and approximated. The design work has not started, and time has already left.

RhinoArtisan 6.8 addresses several of those recurring friction points in a single release.

Default Settings allows teams to define preferred parameter values once, applied across all commands. The Standardize command converts external CAD geometry into editable RhinoArtisan models without rebuilding from scratch. Estimate Size reads ring size automatically from any imported model, including STL files. Gemstone reporting now works by selection, so production teams can generate targeted reports for specific stones and export directly to excel, without pulling the entire project into the same document.

There is a production team generating gemstone reports today that includes every stone in the project because the tool has never offered them a different option. They have been filtering the export manually. They assumed that was how it worked. Now, there's no need on doing that.
