I live in historic Carcassonne Bastide France Fantasy jewelry, wearable art .. statement necklaces in polymer clay, textiles, beads, and found pieces.

Unique, handmade colourful jewelry, objects and amusing character figurines in polymer clay, each a little work of art, created by Jan Riordan … and interesting art posts that inspire me … and I hope you too. Over winter 2014/2015 I enjoyed being creative again, first with crochet and embroidery .. now developing polymer clay pieces, trying to create some unique pieces and a project to enjoy in my retirement. My creations are on display in my large entry hall in La Bastide Carcassonne, and I regularly invite people for a Portes Ouvertes/Open Doors where you can meet other people and socialise. Or please call to arrange a time to visit if your are interested, there's no pressure to buy. If you can't visit and see something you like, message me for more details. I hope one day to have a website shop .... but I'm too busy having fun creating. This has also given me another excuse to visit vide greniers (like car boot sales) looking for unusual textiles and beads. If you have any old, broken, jewelry with interesting beads, bits of silk, lace etc. and objects I can incorporate into my work please let me know. Vintage and 'upcycled' pieces are much in demand!

I’ve had a vacation from creating this hot summer … time to dust and tidy my displays … and show some of my favourite pieces.

Of course people matter ... homes have been destroyed or badly damaged, trees ripped up and people injured in the destructive tornado which swept through Pomas, a village south Carcassonne, .... and the local community rallies round to house them and provide essentials ...

With the considerable damage to the XII siecle Chateau of Pomas there is also a huge historic loss .. not just the structure and walls but the treasures inside ... these beautiful painted ceilings...
