À la Galerie Sophie…etc !, dans le cadre de l’exposition ESTUAIRE — Parcours Bijoux 2026, Catherine Sheedy nous invite à explorer son parcours artistique et l’évolution de sa pratique.

À travers les éléments naturels, les rebuts et les artefacts qu’elle collecte, elle interroge la mémoire des matériaux, les histoires qu’ils portent et les traces de l’activité humaine sur le territoire québécois.

Une réflexion sensible sur le bijou contemporain comme moyen d’expression, entre mémoire, matière et empreinte humaine.

La conférence sera suivie d’un temps d’échange avec les artistes de l’exposition.

“The Material Behind My Creations”

At Galerie Sophie…etc !, as part of the exhibition ESTUAIRE — Parcours Bijoux 2026, Catherine Sheedy invites us to explore her artistic journey and the evolution of her practice.

Through the natural elements, discarded materials and artefacts she collects, she explores the memory held within materials, the stories they carry, and the traces of human activity across Quebec’s territory.

A thoughtful reflection on contemporary jewellery as a form of expression, where memory, material and the human footprint intersect.

The talk will be followed by an opportunity to exchange ideas with the artists in the exhibition.

Discovering and exploring the necklace Flottements, created by .granche from zinc reclaimed from Parisian rooftops.

A singular piece, presented and brought to life by Noel, with the discerning eye of , revealing new ways of wearing this unique work and bringing out all its poetic character.

Inspirées par le fleuve Saint-Laurent, ses marées, ses glaces, ses rivages et les fragments qu’il charrie, Catherine Sheedy, Kathy Ouellette et Catherine Granche développent trois pratiques singulières où céramique, métaux et éléments récoltés se rencontrent.

Entre fleuve et mer, l’estuaire devient le territoire symbolique de cette exposition : un lieu de rencontre, de transformation et de passage.
