POTENTIAL RE-LOCATION OF RAILWAY KIBOSHED BY ANGUS COUNCIL

We are very sorry to have to report to you that an attempt to move KMR to a new location after its closure has had the plugged pulled by Angus Council.

We had been working with them in the hope that the railway could live on on a different site opposite the playpark within the West Links.

We know that this still wouldn't have been the ideal situation as we all would have loved to see the original railway remain, but after the proposed extension was no longer an option (again down to Angus Council), they vowed to offer KMR a solution and this was to be it.

The only reason that you the public didn't know about this project was because it was being council led and therefore confidential. It would also have been a lovely surprise for everyone.

The bit we are most aggrieved at is the fact that we would have been paying for the new railway ourselves and yet instead of that, they have opted to double the size of the crazy golf (which already exists) and spend 200k of their own money which they apparently have to spend this year...

We don't know if we are missing something, but it all stinks and should really be investigated. We feel so hard done by and feel that there is now no hope for the future of KMR.

Sorry this isn't the news many of you would have wanted, but we'd rather you heard it from the horse's mouth instead of from some council politics. Also if you want to believe the council spokesperson's respone in the Courier article please do, but it's a load of lies.

Anyway for now, stay safe and keep smiling.

Thank you, Team KMR.

The former owner of Arbroath's miniature railway believes his last chance to bring back the tourist attraction has been taken from him.

πŸ€— THANK YOU πŸ€—

Well that's that, KMR is now closed for good but we gave it a very memorable send off! πŸš€

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who came down and supported us for 'The Grand Finale'. It was simply amazing seeing so many of you there having your final rides and we can't thank you enough.🌈😁

So for now, we ask if you can give our family and friends some space and not ask too much about the railway. Also a small reminder that the family will be keeping all of the locomotives and stock and will put them to good use when the right opportunity arises (i.e. nothing is for sale). πŸš‚

Thank you again and farewell from us πŸ‘‹

🎈 GRAND FINALE UPDATE 🎈

If you missed our live video, we are extending our opening of the final day until 6pm. πŸ••

The queues are shorter than they were so if you were turned away earlier, it might be worth popping down. 🎟

We appreciate all your support and hope you all are able to have one final ride on KMR. πŸš‚

🚍 VISITING VINTAGE VEHICLES 🚍

Last but not least, there will be a selection of vintage cars and buses on display next to KMR over the weekend!

We can't wait to see them all!! 😁

Also a really nice touch, the Angus Transport Group have made their own destination boards for the event, how cool is that!! See pic below! πŸ€—

Thanks also to Dundee Museum of Transport for providing some vehicles and to Tayside Classic Car Club and Andrew Goodfellow. πŸ‘

If you have a vintage vehicle that you wish to bring down on either Saturday or Sunday then please do! The more the merrier! 😁

VISITING LOCOMOTIVE NO.3

The 3rd visiting engine to 'The Grand Finale' is 'The Empress'.

She was built in 1933 and is another of 'Firefly's' sisters which means that there will be three Bullock built engines running at KMR this weekend which is another first! βœ…

Having just arrived from Southampton, we have her steaming up just now for a test run this evening along with her other sister 'Big Bertha'. 😁

🌟 SCOTRAIL STAR! 🌟

A big thank you to Jamie McEwen, ScotRail's top guard who recorded this video making an announcement on his train coming into Arbroath about 'The Grand Finale', a huge thank you to him! πŸ˜ƒπŸŒŸ

Maybe the rest of the scotrail crews can do the same? Him and his driver then gave us lots of nice t***s on his way back to Edinburgh this morning! Video of this in comments! πŸŽ₯πŸ‘

Again, scotrail drivers, if you're going through Arbroath this weekend we want to hear your horns!!!! πŸ˜πŸš‚

VISITING LOCOMOTIVE NO.2

Our second visitor is 'Angus' named after our beautiful county. She again is still owned by the railway but has been away for overhaul over the last few years. Sadly this overhaul is still yet to be started as she has been in store for the past 5 years, however we just couldn't not have her here for 'The Grand Finale'.

She will on display for photos over the weekend and will be out double heading with the other diesels at different times. πŸš…

Completed in 1994, she is based on a Class 25 full size loco and used to have a Morris 1000 engine powering her. She is the sister of our other blue Class 25 'Elliot' and the cousin of 'Loch Lee'.

This is very exciting having her back as it'll be the first time the three class 25s will have ever been together* at the weekend! So a rare photo opportunity!! πŸ“ΈπŸ˜ƒ
