A beautiful red admiral shows where my ‘Industrial Coast’ pieces originate from. Slag waste from the Cumbrian iron and steel industries has left behind some huge chunks of waste, like the one on which the butterfly is perched. But also some smaller fragments, which have broken off and been smoothed by the sea over time. ✨ Carefully cleaned and lightly sealed, I think they make beautiful and unique pieces with an unusual local connection! ✨ I’m making these into jewellery, paperweights and other decorative items. What do you think? Have you ever seen slag jewellery before -and would you wear it.. ?
I’d love to hear your thoughts! 💙🌊
