We have been getting the portacabin ready for trade today. We are about 90% there. So looks like a definate
to be open Saturday. I think though as we don't have our own key, we will have to wait for a grownup to open the cabins for us. I would like to be open early but it looks as though it will be 9am. Looking forward to getting back to it, but we may be slow as we get used to our new sorroundings..
I'll get some photos done tomorrow. Still waiting for some signs to arrive, we have used the most inefficient company going. 😏

Just been to see the progress, on "Stalag17" 😆 Sorry "Fantastic new cabins".

They are pretty good inside to be fair, though some are better or more suited to some traders more than others.

We will all do the best job we can with what we have. Thanks to the guys at Barrow Bid & Barrow rising, who've been a great help.
We are now on with arranging things inside, the Town Hall have supplied some nice counters and we have the counter tops from our lovely shop, the ???@@ #×× chucked us out of.

We are hoping to be sort of ready for trading this Saturday "Dino Day"... 16th May 🤞

We may not be at 100% but should be enough to start building the business back up.

I may be a bit rusty until I get back into the rhythm of things. Going to miss my Saturday afternoon pint or three though.. But can't enjoy yourself all the time 😀
Looking forward to seeing our lovely customers 🤞 you like what you see. ❤️

Just an update.
I've been and had a look round "Stalag 17".. "whoops sorry".. I mean the fantastic new portacabins 😆

Though they don't look very inviting from outside, they are dry and nice enough inside. Not going to be too hot or cold.

I have just been discussing the lay out, with the guys in charge.
They are on a budget, but hopefully they will look professional and inviting once done.

The idiocity of it is though, we had the perfect setup in our loverly shop, the counters are still in there, they are not screwed down, so could be lifted out and plonked in the cabin, job done little expense.
But as it classed as contaminated (100% not in my opinion).. they are not allowed in to get them.🙃
So its got to be new flat packed counter/office stuff?

Fingers crossed we can make it work, and build the business back, or somewhere near, to what it was.

Not seen inside yet, so we have yet to decide on the lay out.

It will be good to get back working again, there is only so much alcohol and trips off with the caravan you can do, before you need to get back to reality.

I will keep the updates coming on here as soon as they happen

These are a couple of the photos we have just taken of the cabins.
First next to Andrea's Shoes is Harts, not sure who is in which one after, but Retro cove is sharing with Lynn's menswear, Chips Computers is in with Tina's confectionery and superb Cakes, World famous Tuck is in one of the large containers, and Preda hot food & ice cream sharing with Pern (Chewies) sweets. That's it I think 🤔 my memory ain't what it was. Hopefully Blessings hairdressing is in one too, she brightens us all up.

Hi everyone, just to let you all know how things stand at the moment. We will be going into one of the portacabins that the council are going to provide. They will be sited in around two weeks where the old outside market was.Then they will need kitting out to our specs.
A shop would be much more expensive so we have ruled that out for now.
Once we are back up running we will post it on here. Thanks for all your support and kind words. Love from all at Harts ❤️

Hi all, got back last night from our family Holiday, and today we met the appointed Council market liaison representative.

We are being offered a shared potacabin to trade from, which will not be ready for a few weeks. Not ideal, as we can't share a tiny portacabin with anyone else, it just won't work. We are waiting to see what they will look like, and possibly a single unit for us. We will see.

We looked at a shop close by to the mall, which will also be a few weeks before it's available and maybe too expensive, not only higher rent, but we will also have to get it kitted out.

We are keeping our options open, we need something secure and more permanent.

The proposal from the Council is move into the portacabins, then move again into the market-style open-air shopping village, when completed, which will be a few months in the making. Not sure we have it in us to move twice again, as we have moved twice already.

So a bit up in the air.

I have to add, the Barrow Council have been good to us, all this upset and the downright underhanded treatment of us all has come from somebody much higher up the ladder in the new Westmorland and Furness Council.

We have all our stock and fitting etc secure now, that's one worry sorted, thanks to the Barrow Council.

Hopefully we dont loose to many customers while we get new premises sorted, we will be back.

OK, I've just sat down at a Premier Inn, as I'm going on a family Holiday.
We received an email last night stating urgent meeting for all traders at 1pm, the exact time we were to set off on Holiday.

The council told us, we are to vacate our premises (our nice new shop) immediately. If we were not cleared out, the shop would be sealed and we would not be allowed to enter to get our stock. The reason given was that rain leaking through from the carpark was getting contaminated with asbestos. Into the Mall. Funny how this has just happened after some work on the water pipes had been done "Hum" ?

They are not closing, Kapadokia or the post office, carpet place, Barrow bid etc etc.
Yet we aren't allowed to trade using the front shop door????

They was no negotiation, nothing signed sealed delivered, your out on your arse!! I will leave it at that for now. But I will write more as My head gets to grips with it.

I'm away on a family Holiday until next Wednesday.

We are working on getting somewhere to trade from, if it comes to fruition, I will let everyone know on here. ❤️

But funny how Kapadokia were approached by BAE to buy the premises??? The plot thickens, I am convinced there is skullduggery going on. I'd best stop.

Hi Holiday notice.
We will be closed.
We'd 18th Feb - 27th Feb.

Then what seemed a good idea at the time. I'm away on a lads Holiday 🍺 🍻 😲

Closed again 11th March - 15th.. I will be open Monday 16th.. but I may be a bit fragile!!
