A very unusual ring repair/remodel! At some point, these three rings had been lasered together, and our customer wanted to be able to wear them separately again.

Cutting them apart required the thinnest saw blade possible and absolute precision. The central ring had claws holding the stones in place and these claws could not be touched with the saw blade!

Our goldsmith Jess uses a microscope for all this kind of work, so she can see EXACTLY where the saw blade is at all times.

She did an amazing job - the three rings were separated and all of the claws of the central ring were perfectly intact. Now the rings can be worn together or separately, just as our customer wanted! 👏

If you have jewellery in need of some TLC, we have a team of 4 expert goldsmiths and give free no-obligation quotes. So do pop in with your jewellery and let our goldsmiths take a look!

Spotlight on Sapphire, birthstone for September! Did you know that ALL these gorgeous coloured gemstones are sapphires? 🌈

While best known as a blue stone, sapphires can be every colour in the rainbow! Sometimes they contain delicate intersecting needles of rutile that gemologists call “silk”. These can give the sapphire a shimmering, opalescent quality, which looks very pretty.

Sapphire has a Moh’s hardness of 9 and is a very hard stone, making it a fantastic choice for everyday jewellery and engagement rings. Possibly the most famous sapphire engagement ring was Princess Diana’s blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring, now worn by Kate Middleton.

We are able to source unique, ethical sapphires to make one-of-a-kind bespoke jewellery, and we have a wide range of sapphire jewellery available in our shop and ready to buy. The pieces in these photos are just a selection, so do pop in to take a look at the whole range!

Which is your favourite? 💛🩶🖤

Three gorgeous Flint rings handmade by our goldsmith Jess, one in gold, one in silver, and one in oxidised silver.

These rings are each individually made and every ring is completely unique! The texture you see on each ring is totally unique as each ring is individually handcrafted by Jess using a combination of sand-casting and hammering.

Inspired by the unique flints found on our beautiful East Anglian shores and soil, these rings are at home as a wedding ring, a thumb ring, or even the basis for an alternative engagement ring.

To see a full list of the beautiful hammered rings Jess can make, head to the “Wedding Rings” section of our website, or drop into our shop and see them in person!

Spotlight on peridot, birthstone for August! 💚

This beautiful lime-green stone was mined by the ancient Egyptians, who prized it as the “gem of the sun”. Amazingly, peridot can also be found in pallasite meterorites, which were formed when our solar system was born! In 2005 it was also found in comet dust brought back by a space probe.

With a Moh’s hardness of 6.5-7, peridot is considered to have “fair to good” toughness. It is not as heard-wearing as sapphires, rubies or diamonds, but around the same as garnets. So as long as care is taken, jewellery set with peridots can be worn every day, just be mindful not to scratch it or subject it to hard blows which could cause it to fracture.

Warm soapy water is the best method of cleaning for peridot jewellery. Leave it to soak overnight and then gently use a toothbrush to clean off any dirt to keep your jewellery looking vibrant and sparkly!

All these beautiful peridot pieces are available in our shop, and can be found on our website. Please do let us know if you’d like any more information or you’d like us to set something aside so you can pop into our shop and see it in person.

Before-and-after footage of an amazing repair by our goldsmith Jess. This poor ring came into our workshop in a sorry state - the shank was so worn it had snapped and bent out of shape, and the sides of the mount and claws were worn to paper thinness.

Jess first used the customer’s gold to create a new shank, solid and strong, which she joined to the old mount. Then she re-clawed every claw on the ring by adding new gold wire onto the old worn claws. Those stones are going nowhere! Finally she created a flat piece of gold to add to the sides of the mount, to build up the worn metal.

The repaired ring not only looks beautiful, but is now strong enough for another lifetime of wear!

If you have some broken jewellery you might want to repair, bring it into our shop for a no-obligation quote. We have a team of four highly-skilled goldsmiths and pride ourselves on the quality of our service. See you soon! 👋

A beautiful jewellery remodel undertaken by our goldsmith Jess. From initial drawings to the finished piece, swipe for before and after photos! 😍

Our customer had inherited a number of items of gold jewellery, which included two diamond rings, a gold watch and a wedding ring. She wanted a new engagement ring which fitted the wedding ring perfectly. As she felt sentimental about some of the other rings, she and Jess designed a new ring which incorporated the diamond shaped shoulders of the old ring. However, the new ring features three bezel-set diamonds that won’t catch and require minimal maintenance.

We sourced a lab-grown diamond for this ring which matched the smaller diamond provided by the customer. We are able to match and source both lab and natural diamonds of any shape and colour!

If you would like a bespoke engagement ring, feel free to give our shop a call to get the ball rolling. You can provide your own metal and stones, or we can source these for you, including a range of fully ethical materials. We always offer a range of price points which we’re careful to explain, so you feel in control and knowledgeable about the jewellery you’re commissioning.

If you have jewellery you’d like remodelling, feel free to pop into our shop and drop it off to be checked by our goldsmiths. See you soon! 👋

Spotlight on ruby, birthstone for July!

High quality rubies have a brilliant red colour, which can be a purplish red. Early cultures treasured rubies for their similarity to the colour of blood, and believed they held the power of life. In the ancient language of Sanskrit, ruby is called ratnaraj, or “king of precious stones.”

As well as being the birthstone for July, rubies are given to celebrate the 15th and 40th wedding anniversaries.

Ruby is a hard stone, with a Mohs hardness score of 9, second only to diamond. This hard-wearing gemstone will stand the test of time, and could even be used in an engagement ring!

All these gorgeous ruby pieces and many more are available in our shop. Please do pop in to take a look ♥️
