I seem to have amber everywhere at the moment. Some I have bought to make jewellery, and some I have recently inherited. The first thing I did was test them because there are so many imitations out there. In fact some of the imitations have become rare and collectable, especially the bakelite ones.
Most of these passed the test - except those loose beads at the end - they looked fabulous, but sank like a stone in salt water. And one or two turned out to be copal which is an immature version of amber - it just needs to sit around for a few million years.
I may put some of my inherited amber on ebay, so I don't mix it up with my own designs, but I thought you would like to see it.
