Something about hoop earrings that makes me feel a bit more rebellious. I like the way they say ‘I mean business’. Adding on the gorgeous Naya charms brings a bit more of that attitude to the classic hoops. The swing of the snake Naya motif creates beautiful movement to the earrings. Only a couple of pairs of these beauties left now….

January.
I’ve put zero pressure on this January. Tried not to sweat the small stuff whilst enjoying the first month of 2026. Yes it’s been wet and dark but I’ve tried to make it count. Time seems to fly by and condemning a whole month just doesn’t feel like a good use of our precious time. So, here are my January highlights…
1-The beautiful swans of Braunton. A family of ten have been cruising round the marshland these past 8 months or so. A joy to see all 8 babies with their parents.
2. Leftover Christmas sherry and cosy roasts…I bloody love sherry!
3.You can’t beat a breakfast bap outside whatever the time of year
4. This beautiful bird in amongst the berries in the beautiful light looked so festive
5. The gorgeous for my Mum’s birthday lunch
6. Creating new things at the bench…coming soon!
7. Thermos of coffee (even though the cup says tea!) at Woolacombe
8. Working in your orders…thank you!
9. The mouthwatering baked goods sure fire way to beat those January blues
10. The new ear cuff getting a wear test… it passed the test and will be available soon
11. Inspiring talk nothing like being in a room full of people doing great things to ignite a creative spark
12. Evening visit to
13. Jewels on the tube. Gold just brightens up these grey days
14. Delicious meal that felt like I stepped off the plane in Japan
What have been your January highlights?

You never know how a drawing will translate into metal. It can start off great and just by filing a little too much away you can ruin it. Small adjustments and constant reccessing are part of the process in jewellery making. Then it’s always good to sleep on it to check it’s not an utterly heinous design!

Ear Climbers. The pieces I get the most questions about. They have a unique fitting allowing the wearer to wear them up the ear. The long pin holds the piece in place and can be worn alone or in a second piercing paired with other earrings. They are a delight for your lobes and a quick way to feel a little bit extra with minimal effort. Sold as Individuals or pairs. The perfect lobe outfits for these winter days

A big thank you to you all for your support this year. 2025 has been the longest and shortest of years! I really do appreciate every order you place with me. In an ever challenging retail landscape, shopping small and handmade is a vote for how you want to shape the world around you. I am so grateful you choose to spend your money with me. The jewellery is about so much more than just shiny pretty things.
The happiest Christmas to you all. I hope you have a lovely day filled with jewels and crisps.

I made my first piece of jewellery age 12 when my best friend, Sara, got her ears pierced. By unwinding a pipe cleaner and using the wire with some beads from a sewing box, I created my first pair of earrings!
I thought it was amazing my hands could make something that someone could actually wear, albeit a little bent and sharp! I started selling my pieces at school to fellow classmates and realised it could be more then a hobby. I then discovered you could do a degree in Jewellery and despite people telling me it wasn’t a ‘proper job’ I thought “that’s what I’m going to do”.
Having accumulated over 14 years’ experience of designing for brands and suppliers I became disillusioned with mass production processes overseas. I felt detached from the pieces that I had so lovingly designed, which arrived in large volumes, sometimes broken and poorly made. I visited some of the factories used to make the product and that didn’t fill me with much confidence in the process either. For a while I thought about leaving the jewellery industry as I was so disheartened with the constant cycle of churning out sub-standard product. But I hadn’t lost that love of creating. So, I returned to my first love of using my hands to create things.
I dusted off my beloved jewellery tools which had been packed away for a long time, and in May of this year I launched Katherine Barber Jewellery.
Slow Fashion is at the core of my business ethos. The jewellery is made in very small quantities or made to order so there is minimal waste. All Sterling Silver with Gold or Rose Gold Vermeil plating. Using quality materials was really important to me as the items are designed with longevity in mind. To be worn and loved for years to come. The pieces are all made by me in my Devon workshop at the jewellery bench my Dad made for me 14 years ago!
I take inspiration from around me. With a love of travel, the world has provided much inspiration. Architectural forms are a key source, the Enso collection developed from a window in Oslo! I am constantly scribbling down odd shapes and working out how it could be a wearable piece, not every design makes it out of the sketch book!
I hope you will enjoy wearing the pieces as much as I have designing and making them. Afterall, wearing something so close to your skin, I believe its good to know where it came from and who made it.
