We’re bringing forth the Forget-me-not vibe in these antique Georgian and Victorian Turquoise jewels. Floriography associates the two and brings a tender message.

Dating to the late 18th century and likely of French origin; a touching and delicately hand painted enamel image of a Cupid with a red sash and flower garland standing upon billowing clouds set as a navette shaped pendant.

An evocative image capturing yearning and love, pieces such as this were worn as a way to keep a loved one close and treasure their spirit within a tangible sense and sometimes in similar pieces you will see a phrase or dedication. Set in a border of wild Seed Pearls in a 9ct Gold frame, this beautiful antique jewel can today be worn as a pendant.

There are small scratches to the enamel. Measures 4cm in length.

We’re one of the few remaining genuine antique/vintage shops in Brighton Lanes Jewellery Quarter. An area that used to be bustling with dealers and trading activity has quietened and evolved. We’ve worked in the Lanes for a quarter of a century and are seen as quite established now.. we only sell antique, vintage and secondhand. Everything we have is recycled; sometimes many times over, passing through generations of hands… our jewellers still use techniques which have been passed down and learnt at the bench.

Circa 1720’s, a pair of antique Georgian buttons, which we suggest now make the most gorgeous and interesting earrings. Perhaps once worn to fasten a sleeve, waistcoat or cloak they are entirely crafted in Silver in the fashion of the time and set with faceted and foil backed Paste ‘gems’ which were enormously de rigeur.

The cause of much experimentation over the decades, creating glass which was suitable for faceting and using in jewellery is a fascinating subject. For a further read (we recommend Antique Paste Jewellery by M.D.S. Lewis).

In their day sought after and admired for their sparkle, we have had our jeweller fashion 9ct Gold shepherd’s crook style earwires to give them a new life. In their original Silver pie crust settings, the paste ‘gems’ measure 1cm across and are in nice condition with a little faded greying to the foil beneath the ‘gems’ which gives a delicate mistiness to the glimmer.

Stones: hand cut Paste (an early hand faceted Glass) set over foil.

Metal: Silver to the setting with 9ct Gold to the ear wires.

Measurements: 1cm across. 18mm from the top of the wire.

So happy to show you this gorgeous antique style engagement ring!! Such a beautiful allure, this antique Diamond engagement ring carries a delightful charm down the years. Dating to around 1900, the design was the most desired at the time, with a restrained mood centering on the delicious olden hand cut gemstone mounted in a fine coronet setting first seen and designed by Tiffany:

The Tiffany Setting was introduced in 1886 by Charles Lewis Tiffany, the founder of Tiffany & Co. This setting revolutionized engagement ring design by lifting a round brilliant-cut diamond above the band, held by prongs, to maximize its brilliance and sparkle (see images).

The Diamond was cut by hand to the Old European recipe, which brought greater sparkle to the gem as a result of the accurately cut matching facets. Cut from a single crystal, see our images from all views to appreciate her plump majesty!

In pristine condition: all entirely original and hand crafted, this piece is both very special and 100% ethical as a choice for your engagement ring.

Stone: we estimate the Diamond to weigh 0.65ct (judged in the setting with a Schindler Gauge) and note that it does have a gorgeous natural champagne hue and is super-sparkly!

Ring Size: P or 7.5 as is but easy to alter for fit

Metal: 18ct Yellow Gold tested and stamped with a workshop ‘18CT’ inside the band.
