We are so sorry that it's taken us this long to announce the winner of our Spring giveaway. Things have got on top of us a wee bit.

Please could Eilidh Muir from Glenelg (we think) get in touch to arrange collection of your Celtic Stag necklet! This is now yours Eilidh!

Eilidh's winning comment about choosing our stag necklet to remind her of a lost loved one was very personal so we're not going to re-share it in this post, but Eilidh, feel welcome to re-post in the comments when you see this if you wish to. But only if you would like to. We look forward to hearing from you Eilidh!

As way of apology for taking so long to announce the winner of our Spring giveaway, we have a surprise coming this evening so keep your eyes on the page if you entered.......👀

The giveaway was about choosing something from our website so here is Eilidh's choice on our site:

If anyone would like to come buy a diamond ring today or something, that would really cheer me up! 😅

We started our day washing vomit off the pavement outside our shop, the restaurant next door and our house 🤮 Makes a change from the usual poo 💩

Next up is our VAT return. These things ruin my life!!

After that, it's banking. We had an absolutely incredible May. The best ever. But with insane costs of everything these days - like the updated & absolutely extortionate business rates, i'm about to pay out pretty much everything we took in after an extremely successful month which took a serious amount of hard work and endless hours.

Then, if there's any time left today, I'll be back onto the ongoing fight with our energy supplier. We got the new meter but the fight continues. We knew that we were being seriously over charged since we took on the full lease on our premises. They didn't care. Of course they didn't. They were allowed to charge us insane estimates while they made excuse after excuse for not fixing our meter. Now that we have a working meter for the first time, we know that the company has taken THOUSANDS of pounds from us for energy we were not using. It was thanks to us opening a case with the Energy Ombudsman that we got the replacement meter and now that we have it, the Ombudsman wants to close the case with absolutely no attempt to help us get our money back. Apparently that's a separate issue so we have to open a new case. That gives Pozitive Energy another 8 weeks to even respond. And believe us, they are absolute pros at stalling. During the open case, they would schedule an appointment - making it look to the Ombudsman that they were taking action. They would then cancel a couple of weeks before and say there wasn't an engineer available for another couple of months. These tactics led to more & more months of taking more & more of our money that they were not due and they refused to reduce our payments in the meantime.

We thought part of the Ombudsman's process would be to ensure we hadn't paid for energy we weren't using. Maybe being left with a meter which didn't take a reading for 2.5 years is too complicated a case to deal with 🤷‍♀️ We would also have thought that they would want to ensure Pozitive Energy cannot get away with operating in this way and treating more customers like this. But it would seem not 🥲

This week we were excited to take delivery of watches from the brand new Isle of Skye Watch Company.
The youngest member of the team spotted the new addition to our displays and was desperate to try one on. He was very taken with them!
Since before he could walk or talk, I've been convinced he'll follow in daddy's footsteps and become a Goldsmith. But maybe I was wrong, check out this modelling 😅
He thinks this is his now 😬 Well I guess there should be some perks to being at work with your mum at 8pm, in your pyjamas, on a Saturday night. We're still searching for that work life balance everyone talks about.....Maybe we'll start to find it now that the youngest is learning the tell the time with his new Isle of Skye watch 😆

We now have watches on display alongside our jewellery by the brand new wee business Isle of Skye Watch Company. They look so good worn with our "Skye from the Sea" rings, right?!

Wednesday (27th) was meant to be Caroline's last day of her week long run with us in our pop-up room but she loves it so much here with us that she's staying an extra day! (Actually, it's due to a wee bit of a glitch with her travel plans, but she has been having a great time here!!) So she will now be open until mid afternoon ish on Thursday 😊
Doesn't her pop-up artist studio look so fantastic!?

I've been really looking forward to Caroline Knox Printmaker being back in our pop-up room because I bought one of her swimming lady prints for myself when she was here last year but I ended up giving it to a customer & friend instead of keeping it. But I was hoping to replace it this year, and I have! It's different colours to the one I got last year but I am delighted with it! Caroline is here until the afternoon on Wednesday 27th (not including Sunday). The pop-up room is like a proper artist's shop at the moment. There is so much to choose from. I also have my eye on this print on tiles....and on her fox prints too......Part of our house ceiling fell in yesterday so I don't actually have anywhere to hang new artwork at the moment but that's a whole other story for another time!!! In the meantime, please pop in to see Caroline's gorgeous pop-up shop if you can!

"This is good potteries, isn't it mum?!"

It's been lovely to have some pieces from Seatree Argyll in our shop, alongside our jewellery, since their pop-up next door in Blank Canvas a few months ago. We hadn't seen their work before they booked the pop-up and we just really loved it and asked if they'd leave some with us when they were packing up at the end of their pop-up. Their wee "biscuit plates" have been so popular that they had to pop some more in the post to us.

Wee Elwood insisted on displaying the delivery for me. "This is good potteries, isn't it mum?!" He is the definition of a bull in a China shop so I was rather tense but he did a good job!

Here's my favourite "biscuit plate" with our pearl oyster shell necklace. I love these wee plates as trinket dishes. And they are exactly the perfect size for a piece of my mum's famous shortbread! Although nobody has ever eaten just one piece of mum's shortbread!! It is singlehandedly helping us get good reviews for our holiday accommodation!!

Caroline spent a week with us last year and she's on route to Skye to spend another week with us again. She fit right in with us all last year and we're looking forward to having her and her lovely dog back! Caroline Knox Printmaker does beautiful lino prints and, as well as selling originals and prints of her originals, she has them printed onto a huge variety of different, useful products and homewares.

Thank you to today's great, friendly, bunch of talented artists & crafters who popped up with us! They were only here for the one day but they'll be back again for another day next month and then again in July.

We can't quite keep up with the Blank Canvas bookings at the moment! It's fantastic!

***This one is this Tuesday***
We do plan to start up our 'mini market' days again but we didn't want to rope folk in until the place was busier again after winter and then May ended up being almost fully booked so we decided to hold off. This group of great local makers & artists have saved us a job really and organised their own!! And they have booked a few dates which we're delighted about!

It will be a quick turned around after this first date, ready for another booking on Wednesday! We're very happy to be welcoming print maker Caroline back after her first pop-up with us last year. I'll pop a poster for it in the comments and post more about it tomorrow 😊
