Love from Skye is a jewellery gallery and workshop owned and run by Paul and Bryony Matthews showcasing both contemporary and traditional jewellery with an onsite jewellery workshop manufacturing an exclusive range, offering a commission service and jewellery and watch repairs service. We didn't expect to see any customers today (for obvious reasons!) but we will always still open up and stay open until our advertised time. So we took the chance to get the autumn & Halloween decs up. Thanks to assistance from my two wee helpers, the window is now ready for all the carved pumpkins the local children will (hopefully) bring in for our pumpkin carving competition! We'll post details about it over the next couple of days and then entries can be delivered!

To all our "Love from Skye" friends in the weather warning areas, stay warm & safe tonight & tomorrow. We're planning to spend our Sunday decorating our house with the children and doing some pumpkin carving (possibly by candlelight?!)

Trying out the idea of a workshop dog!! Actually, we were just dog sitting for Paul's mum & dad but Willow has tried to turn our holiday savings jar into puppy savings and Elwood & Gem are the best of friends. "Gem" has to be the perfect dog for a jewellers, right?! And he was very at home here!

🎃Would your children be interested in submitting a carved pumpkin to a children's pumpkin carving competition? We have a big window in our jewellers and we would love to see it lined with children's pumpkins this Halloween! There would, of course, be a prize for the winner. What do you think?
(Paul does love a bit of pumpkin carving! His Eilean Donan Castle pumpkin from a few years back is one of my favourites 🏰)

👗Over the autumn / winter, would anyone be interested in taking part in / coming to a pre-loved clothing sale?
I know I have so many clothes & accessories to sell on but I never get round to listing them online. I do give a lot to charity but sometimes it is nice to be able to get a bit of cash for some of our pre loved things to put towards that next big thing you're saving for. Ladies, what do you think?

🎁The last weekend in November is our busiest time of year in our jewellers with the most local foot fall we see all year. It's a lovely time of year for us here. We're looking for someone / a group to book our pop-up space for these particular dates as it's really nice to have something happening in the pop-up room while we're doing our special offer Christmas shopping days and when the cafe is also open too.
Last year we had Prickly Thistle / Rebel Row clothing from Inverness using the space. It could be something similar or it could be a completely different product. It could be an art exhibition, it could be crafts...Anything really! Anyone interested?

🚦We had been planning to start up our "mini market" days again for Sept / Oct but, with the current road works affecting trade so badly, we haven't started them up again yet because we don't want to get folk involved when there's a high chance of the road works killing the day, but we will get them up and running again. Maybe a mini market day to tie in with our November special offer days in our jewellers?

⚠️We've had a big problem with our main email account. First the road works affecting our shop trade and now our mail order side of the business affected by this new issue. Honestly, what next? (Please, nothing! 🙏)

📢If you tried to email us or if you used the contact form on our website over the last few days but haven't heard back from us, please forward your message.

(We received an encrypted email which then meant that we couldn't access our inbox but it is now resolved 🙏)

We're currently in week 4 of the disruption in the centre of the village.
Last week we were so relieved when the work moved away from our doorstep and the wait times don't seem bad at all and haven't for ages. (And our junction is now only blocked off some of the time 😉) But we are shocked at how much the work is still affecting trade. It's got to be a psychological thing?!
The pattern to good days and bad days at the shop is very, very clear: Thankfully the roadworks have been cleared away late mornings on Fridays which have led to fantastic Fridays. Saturdays have also been great and these are not usually our busiest days of the week. We opened on the first couple of Sundays to make the most of road work free days - a day we would never normally be open and they were good too. Mondays are often our best day of the week but we go back to being so quiet again once the roadworks are set up again on a Monday.

Hopefully the end is near!

And no more problems for a while, please!!! 🤪 🙃

A bespoke piece for Willow's special birthday, made from sentimental family rings 🍃

We melted down family rings and used the gold to create a Willow leaf for Willow. The colour of the gold is so warm and beautiful, making the piece even more unique. It's not quite yellow gold and it's not quite white gold due to melting rings of each colour together.

We used diamonds from an eternity ring to set along the central vein of the leaf and added texture to the leaf to make it sparkle some more! ✨️

We took the solitaire setting from an engagement ring and altered it to turn it into a pendant with the idea that Willow can wear it on the chain along with her leaf pendant, or she can easily separate the two pendants and wear the solitaire stone alone for a more simple, understated look.

It was a pleasure to work with this family to create Willow's birthday necklace. (Not our family, but we did choose the same name for our beautiful daughters!) We saw a photo of Willow wearing this on her birthday and she looked really beautiful 🙏

We have a donations box from Broadford Primary School for the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal.

We're sure everyone is familiar with the anual appeal and we think it's such a great idea that the school have had. They're collecting individual donations and will make up complete boxes. It can be expensive to prepare a full box so this is a great way to contribute.

We had a visit from some of the school children this week to deliver the box. They were very prepared and polite, as always when they're out & about the village. We've put it in the entrance area so that it's easy for locals to just pop a donation in the door 😊

I was very excited to be taking this beautiful gent's golden Celtic band off display today!
It caught the attention of a couple on a special getaway to Skye a few weeks ago. It's still on their mind after returning home so they got in touch to find out if we could send it to them. It will be on it's way very soon! 💛
