For anyone who follows our catch reports it won’t have passed them by just how devastating a bait The Northern Mere is on The Sitch syndicate on the RH Fisheries portfolio. So for many of the anglers on there it was a bitter blow when the owners bought in the rule of only using their own bait on the water.

The only stipulation is that you can use your own hookbaits. So with that being said Rob Hird did a 3 night session and whilst loose feeding the syndicate bait he still went in with our Northern Mere as hookbaits to great success with 4 fish landed during his stay with the biggest fish tipping the scales at a little over 30lb.

# Shark Trip Cancelled - FSO / PMT High Attract Pop Ups #

What are you going to do if a planned shark fishing trip gets cancelled on you due to a storm. That itch needs to be scratched so for our very own Steve Ector it saw him travelling to his southern syndicate for a 48 hour session on his syndicate.

Arriving in the afternoon Steve found an area of the lake where the fish were showing and proceeded to spomb out a mix of FSO and h**p and presented FSO snowmen tipped with a PMT High Attract Pop Up over the top.

It wasn’t long before he saw action as one of his rods signalled a take and a fish called Black Scale was in the bottom of his landing net. Later that day another take saw him doing battle with another one of the venue’s residents which saw him landing a lovely looking linear.

After keeping an eye on the Lower Severn for some time Ian Bryant judged that the time was right to start his autumn campaign on his syndicate.

Arriving at the river he selected his swim and laid down a carpet of particle and a large amount of free offerings of the FSO and presented matching hard hookers liberally coated in our Salmon oil over the top.

3 hours later a very delicate bite saw him doing battle with his first Barbel of his campaign and after slipping the net under the fish it was clear that he’d got of to a great start as the specimen fish tipped the scales at 12lb 8oz.

# Change Of Mindset - The Northern Mere / Mk2 High Attract Pop Ups #

A last minute change in plans saw Ryan Peel travelling to Farlows lake on a Friday morning which I think most would agree is probably the worst time to arrive at an extremely popular day ticket venue. Arriving at the lake to find his worst fears confirmed Ryan and his friend somehow managed to find 2 pegs together. The area of the lake didn’t really inspire either of them and feeling penned in by islands they opted to just get the rods out and have a social.

After 24 hours of nothing Ryan decided to put a bit more effort in and actually see what was out in front of him and try and make good from a bad situation. Finding a clear area in amongst a w**d bed he introduced a good amount of the Northern Mere and presented a snowman rig tipped with a Mk2 High Attract Pop Up over the top. The other rod being fished up against an island with a single PMT High Attract Pop Up on it.

After getting everything sorted a takeaway was ordered and it was during the consumption of said takeaway that the spot amongst the w**d was away. The fight was uneventful right up until the fish was under the rod tip where it then decided to go mental doing everything it could to lose the hook. After what seemed an age the net was slid under a very special fish and one that Ryan had been dreaming of catching for a long time.

At 38lb 4oz The Cut Tail Linear one of Farlows A-team was being held up to the camera and goes to show that when all seems lost not giving up can still bring rewards.

Not to be outdone on the last morning of his session the spot against the island was away and after a short fight another off Farlows gems was being held up for the camera. Another linear weighing 27lb 8oz to cap off a memorable session that started off badly but ended up coming good.

Todays catch report is truly staggering when you discover just how many fish were caught between Leslie Gajur and his friend whilst fishing at Collingham Weir on the river Trent.

Arriving for a 48 hour session Leslie and his friend fished 3 rods between them using a combination of our FSO in round and barrels the action was instant from start to finish with a total of 90 fish being landed including several fish weighing over 13 lb.

What can you say about just how good the FSO is for catching Barbel other than the proof is in the pudding.

With a planned session looming Ryan Peel took advantage of living local to his venue by having a good look around the night before he was going to fish so he wasn’t turning up blind.

Arriving the following morning in the hours of darkness he put his recon to use and got his rods into position. Northern Mere hard hookers over the top of a small amount of matching freebies his choice of attack.

It wasn’t long before one of his rods signalled a take and after a dogged battle this beautiful fully scaled mirror was slipping over the net cord.

Travelling down south from the Midlands to his southern syndicate water takes some serious dedication on his part but for our very own Steve Ector the effort he is putting into his fishing is certainly reaping the rewards.

Travelling through the night to avoid the traffic around London he arrived at the lake at 3 am where he then proceeded to quietly walk the lake looking for signs of fish. Upon finding them a quick Power Nap was taken before he then set out his stall for the session.

Fishing just short of where the fish were showing to avoid spooking them Steve introduced a spread of FSO to the area and then presented FSO / PMT High Attract Pop Up snowman rigs over the top.

2 Bites were forthcoming during his session and when they’re 2 of the lakes A Team all the effort is rewarded. The first bite came from a fish called the Big Sutton and tipped the scales at 36lb 3oz and the second bite was a fish known as Mr Angry weighing 30lb 2oz.

Jordan Lonczvk has just come off of a successful session on his chosen venue that saw him bank 3 of the lakes highly sought after residents.

Fishing Mk2 High Attract Pop Ups over the top of our Northern Mere and a particle mix saw him bank 3 special mirrors with the biggest fish going 32lb 14oz backed up with a brace of upper 20s incl a two tone fully scaled and a lovely chestnut linear.

Once again the Mk2 High Attract Pop Up doing the business.

Andy Sliwa and Mark Dutton who affectionately call themselves the ‘Bostik Brothers’ (don’t ask us we have no idea either ) had themselves a social at Collingham Weir on the River Trent. With near perfect conditions the scene was set for something special.

Well after a morning of frustration with bites hard to come by it was back to the drawing board and the dynamic duo had a rethink over some dinner.

Deciding to go in with a heavy baiting approach and positioning their baits slightly different the afternoon was the polar opposite to the morning. After only managing 4 bites all morning the change in tactics saw 26 bites forthcoming in the afternoon. The best of which was a 14lb 5oz specimen for Mark with both of them having several doubles each.

Heavy baiting of the FSO and fishing hardened hookers glugged in the matching liquid proved to be the game changer.

After a hiatus away from the sport what better way to get back into it than with a red letter session that sees you break your PB multiple times with virtually every fish you catch.

Last week we reported that Lewis Deckx had taken his friend on a fishing trip to get him back in the game. This week we report on Jake Gower as his session with Lewis was also the session that dreams are made from.

Using our Mk2 High Attract Pop Ups it’s fair to say that Jake couldn’t put a foot wrong. Presenting his hookbait over the top of a particle mix his first fish was a new personal best for him. As was his next fish followed by the next one and so on with his last fish of the trip setting a new bar and an awesome welcome back to fishing.

# Red Letter Session - Mk2 High Attract Pop Ups / The Northern Mere #

When everything slots into place and you can’t put a foot wrong you have to ride that wave to its completion and that’s just what happened to Lewis Deckx.

When a friend of his wanted to get back into fishing Lewis offered to be his fishing partner and took him on to a park lake with the hope of a few bites to help his friend get the bug back.

Going in armed with our Mk2 High Attract pop ups and the Northern Mere Lewis baited heavily with particle and the northern mere and presented either a Mk2 or a match the hatch wafter over the top of his baited area. What happened next was incredible as the bites started coming and just didn’t stop.

These weren’t small fish either as a brace of 30s were soon being photographed as part of a 16 fish haul with the majority of the fish being 20lb plus fish with a few upper doubles thrown in for good measure.

It wasn’t just Lewis hauling though as his mate despite being out of practice also got in on the hauling but that’s a story for another day.

With his recent success on Suffolk Water Park Steve Breitsprecher had the opportunity to fit a night of fishing into his busy life so off course he took it.

Turning up at the lake he found the fish sitting on the back of a strong 30mph southerly wind. The only problem he faced was there weren’t any fishable swims in the area leaving him the only option of fishing into the strong wind at range.

Not to be perturbed he managed to get his Apex / Strawberry Fields High Attract Pop Up snowmen rigs into position and then deposited 2kg of Apex over the top. This paid off big time for him as 2 of the lakes oldest residents graced his landing net. A fish known as the perfect common at 30lb 2oz and a fish called 3 scale at 33lb 8oz.
