From Gemstone Strand to a Finished Piece of Jewellery.

Cairngorms Smoky Quartz, often simply called “Cairngorm” in jewellery and gem circles, is one of Scotland’s most historically important gemstones. It is a distinctive variety of smoky quartz ranging in colour from honey-brown and smoky grey to almost black. The finest traditional stones came from the Cairngorm Mountains in the Scottish Highlands, giving the gem its famous name.

Here’s a little glimpse into my workbench before creating a piece of jewellery using the Cairngorm Quartz. I settled on using Bullseye Malachite with the quartz as spacers. The other components are sterling silver with a 3mm turquoise gemstone and quartz feature at the end of a 1.5” extender chain. One of my favourite parts of the process is imagining all the possibilities and combinations of the strands.

The trio of bracelets I’ve used a combination of Smokey quartz, Amazonite and Malachite.

MEET THE MAKER

Hello, I'm Wilma, the founder and designer behind Goss Jewellery.

My love of beautiful jewellery and fashion began long before I ever made my first piece. I grew up in a family of creative women who would sew, alter and create elegant outfits for church, weddings and special occasions. Looking back, I realise that appreciation for craftsmanship, style and attention to detail was instilled in me from an early age.
As a teenager, I would often "borrow" my mother's jewellery and scarves, fascinated by how a beautiful accessory could transform an outfit and make someone feel special. Sometimes my ‘borrow’ was without her knowledge!

Years later, a beautiful Lapis Lazuli ring I purchased sparked a deeper fascination with gemstones. I became captivated by their history, beauty and the stories they carry. What began as curiosity soon grew into a passion. I attended jewellery and metalwork classes, immersed myself in learning about gemstones and gradually built a collection of treasures from around the world.

Of all the gemstones I have worked with, pearls captured my heart. There is something truly magical about the only gemstone created by a living creature. Their natural beauty, lustre and individuality make every pearl unique.
Today, I combine pearls and carefully selected gemstones to create elegant, handcrafted jewellery designed to be treasured for years to come. Every piece is individually made with care, combining beautiful colours, textures and natural materials to create something meaningful and timeless.

Goss Jewellery is inspired by nature's most beautiful creations, pearls and gemstones, and my aim is to create jewellery that not only looks beautiful but becomes part of your own story.
As a small business owner, every like, comment, share and purchase genuinely means the world to me. Thank you for supporting handmade craftsmanship and helping me continue doing something I truly love.

Baroque pearls are where nature shows off. No two are ever the same, and colour plays such a huge role in how we connect with them. From soft champagne and golden cream to peacock greys and deep mauve tones of the first 4 strands, each strand here tells a completely different story. The peacock rounds echo the same sparkle in real life, which the photo hasn't captured, and the last strand of Lavendar Edison rounds is a soft lilac tone.
With a keen passion and love for pearls, I’m always fascinated by how overtones, nacre depth, and light can change the way a pearl looks and feels on the skin. I’m excited to get creating with these beautiful gems!

I Finally met Mandy Noss in person last week, the stylist that introduced me to cabi and my Mentor. We had such a warm meeting at an all-stylist gathering for lunch, a catch-up, and a try-on of the new arrivals. It was great to meet some lovely ladies. We are all different sizes and heights, so it was an opportunity to see how the main collection fit us. When I arrived, funny thing, well not really it was inevitable since we all have the same sample rails, Mandy was wearing the . This is one of our favourites, so of course we had to have a photo taken!😀 Trying on the new arrivals , we both had on the . I predict this is going to sell out! Of course another photo, we were both even wearing design shoes, how uncanny is that! 😂Here’s a group photo of my cabi sisters all in our designs.
